I hadn't planned to. I'm not a member of the VMCC. That signpost was about 65 miles into the ride (I'm from Warwickshire).
Dont have to be a VMCC member, although the entry is a few more £. Start and finish at Leintwardine, approx 200mile ride all round the borders of Herefordshire. Brilliant day out (if the weather is good). I have done it a couple of times on my T140 and once on the Commando.

Me on my 71 Hi Rider with Roadster seat in 1973. Old pocket photo. My friend Bob on his H1 Kaw. Bob lost his life on a Ducati monster in 2005.

The view from my door this afternoon.

Took the Commando out for a blast around the Island enjoying some half decent weather.

About halfway through the ride I just stopped anylising the bike. Y'know - Is the clutch dragging?. Was that a misfire changing down into that junction?. Are the Isolastics too tight?. Is the blah blah blah?. - I parked the over-thinking and just started enjoying the moment. It felt so great just being out there in the countryside on this wonderful machine.

Idle

I'm still buzzing two hours later. I've really bonded with this bike 👍

They really are great bikes when you get the bugs out
Greatest bodge up in motorcycle history IMO
Certainly better than the sum of it's parts

Forty nine years later - 40 of those collecting dust, but I'd consider it completed now.
1974 the day I bought it, out front of Taylor Matterson London UK, don't know why I didn't bring more gear.
1981 back in Canada the year I stored it, changed the colour
2018 out of storage
2023 pretty much done

Time to make up for lost time.

Hmmmm....just sitting here wondering (oh yeah, 71 days until redeployment back to the US of A!!!!!) why there is no "post a picture of your Norton" thread on this forum. Am I missing some area of the forum that folks can post a pic of their Commando instead of on random threads? Seems it would be easier to devote one thread to this topic exclusively sort of like over at the Britbike forum. Just a suggestion.

I am a noob to this forum so just tell me to shut my pie hole if it has been discussed before (it probably has). I for one would really enjoy checking out owner photos of the most legendary of ALL british bikes...NORTON COMMANDO. :p
