Pictures of your Norton 961

Until today, I had not really looked at a photo of the 961 Norton. Discussing performance is probably absurd - their must already be enough for anyone to use on public roads. However, I was wondering about the gearbox - does it have 6 speeds close ratio as standard or even as an option ? Some people seem to believe that horsepower is the answer for speed - but the gearbox can be more important.
No , Just 5 speeds.

When overtaking slower traffic, I've hit the rev limiter a few times, when I'm in 3rd usually. Sometimes a bit more power can be safer. Don't care about top speed, but faster overtakes mean your on the wrong side of the road for less time.

First ride of the year, even if it was only approximately a one mile round trip to the chippy, it was still a ride, & when you’ve had a bit of an hiatus, interregnum, gap or time out from these 961,s
You remember why you got one in the first place !
P.S. Where do others place there

What is the Harley seal ?
Hi Tony, it’s like a big Dowty washer, with a seal bonded to the inner circle. From what I can see it’s part no. 31488-81C but mine came from Stu with no wrapping. If you do purchase one and I’m correct, please let me know and I’ll get it added to the parts list.

Any pics ? Can you describe where in the assembly it is ? Does it go in the same place as the gasket , squeezing between starter and primary case. ?

Hi Tony, sorry I haven’t been able to connect all day. Jerry fixed it now. Hard to tell from the picture, but I think this is one…

Montville, Maleny loop today - fantastic ride, perfect weather! It’s cooler up there at this time of year which the Norton seems to prefer. No occasional cut outs on dropping to idle - ran perfectly.

Bikes everywhere - also multiple motorcycle police bikes! First time I’ve ever seen a couple of bikes ‘doing a runner’ from an unmarked police bike. Did’nt fancy their chances as those boys can really ride!
