Got it ready for summer! Nice ride out and it’s running perfectly. Since I restored it in 2012, had hardly any issues. Most work done on it is upgrades. I just removed the Shorai batteries and put a AGM in, turned into quite a major rewire. Fun to ride.

What is your rear brake setup on that Jerry? And why the front on the right for the mk3?

This is the latest incarnation of my Commando.
I have copied Matt's colour that he's used on at least one Interstate, but I thought that it really suited the Interstate tank. The picture may have a slight lean towards a more orangey colo(u)r than in the flesh. The colour is a candy colour and really zings in bright sunlight.
I also have a few other products on it purchased from Matt at Colorado Works.
p.s. Fuel tank bought from cliffa, it was a great buy. Thanks.

Does Corbin make a seat for an Interstate model or is it modified? By who?
They used to, but they stopped doing so, allegedly due to there being so many variations in Interstate tank length.

I believe they will still make you one if you take the bike to them.

Matt at cNw modified one to fit my tank, but he needs the tank in order to do this. And I dunno if he still does it?

Matt altered my seat in 2025, and it is a very snug fit next to the fuel tank. I needed to take some very accurate measurements from the rear of the fuel tank so that Matt knew what length to alter the seat to. As you said correctly Nigel, apparently there are a few variations in the length of the Interstate tanks.

That’s great if he can do it via measurement and not require the tank!

Mine is a snug fit too, so much so I don’t use the rear retaining strip thing.

I think Matt prefers to have the tank to measure himself.
I can't remember if he gave me a disclaimer based on my measurements or not, but sending a fuel tank from the UK is an arse I'm sure.

A fifty mile run this morning before the heat gets turned up here in Iowa, USA. I have about 1600 miles on my rebuild since early spring.
1974 MK2 , original paint and seat. 34,000 miles on the speedo...

Nigel,
I just gave the measurements to Matt to have the seat cut and am pleased with the fit.You also have a small amount of play with the front mount for the tank as I have a strap for my tank bag that loops around the frame at that point.

Thanks for the compliment Sam.
I do have indicators. They are "Motogadget M-Blaze Pin LED Turn Signals (Black) (EC) (6004010)" They're very small, about the the size of two joints on my little finger and that includes the thread. They are also very bright, but have to be fitted in the correct position to get the "brighter" part of the flasher pointing in the correct direction (which wasn't in the instructions), and they need a load resistor fitting into the circuit.
On my Norton they are fitted in the original correct positions but are so small, and are black and clear when not flashing, that they're not at all obvious unless your looking closely.

Out of interest, when fitted the LED indicators to the headlamp ears, they weren't far enough apart to meet MOT regs, so I had to fit 2 X extension pieces that are also black, although without checking, I can't remember what the minimum distance required is.
