My ride

JR

What are the forks and shocks from?

The yoke and fork is from a 1996 Suzuki gsxf Bandit, the hub and disk`s is from a 73 Suzuki GT750 water buffalo.
The shocks is some old marzocchis, they have been red but some one have removed the paint.

JR,
wicked ride, looks nasty from behind w/ the dunstals pointed at you.
They look like gattling gun barrels.
I like the furturistic look have you had any offers to use it in movies?
It must be a blast to ride.
Come to Pennsylvania w/ it and we'll swap rides for the day. :)
Marshal

I have not got any movie offers yet, (not the bike neither).

I think the bike have spent enough time i the US. (it was there from 1972 to 1992)
Bring your to Europe, we can gather on Isle of Man .

JR

Currently looking very sad with no front end while fork mods are in progress but just to prove it does occasionally come together and sit on two wheels -

JR,
I would love to go to the Isle.
I'm 7 years away from retiring from the police force.
Then, I'm gonna catch up for lost time.
The Isle of Mann is on my list of things to do before I die.
Boy this post exploded we are up to pg 8 the bikes all look stellar.
Marshal

GrandPaul,
that is a fine stable of through breds.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you are keeping the VR880 alive.
That is really a nice upgrade for a Norton that may have not been a survivor.
I'd love to have one for tearin up the road.
Thank you for the nice complement on the Queen.
She is a plain jane stock girl w/o any cosmetic surgery
I'm up to 9,700 miles on her.
I like her just the way Wolverhampton put her together.
Stuck in the 70's.

We should contact Davida helmets and have them do a Norton advertisement w/ our forum members bikes.
We have some sweet rides and their web page could use a refresher. Although the same models may stay
With Norton's return the timing for the adverstisment is spot on.
Somebody in the UK hook that up for the forum please?
Jerry, it looks like we might have to hold nominations again

I just love that paint scheme. I'm going to cry when I have to remove it from my tank. Luckily it will be replaces by the only better paint for a Norton... yellow.

Since this thread popped up again, I thought I'd drop a couple of pics on you guys.
Since I just finished the cosmetic restore on my Norton.

hobot and out.

No new bikes for a while. Maybe it's time for some flat track eye candy. This is the factory flat track bike I bought from John Hately when Norton went bust and the team folded up.

Doesn't look much like a Commando, but the engine is a Commando short stroke 750. I bought it for the engine, and later sold the rest to another Norton crazy. It's now being restored by Bill Milburn, an ex-factory rider, in Texas. I used the engine in my PR, but it's parts are now spread out among other engines. The oiginal crank eventually cracked, as did the new spare that came with it. The cases went when one of the steel rods gave up at Park City. The head and cylinder are still in use on my 920, along with the Sifton 460 cam with BSA lifters.

The paint job was my own effort, not the race team's. I painted it, stuck silencers on the end of the TT pipes, and rode it around the neighborhood a few times before I pulled the engine.

And again, this thread's been quiet for a while, so here are some more Commandos, plus a monoshock. This is from Daytona in (I think) 1990. The bikes are, left to right, my Production Racer (quite modified by then for AMA BOTT), my ex-Jim Schmidt monoshock Norton AMA BOTT racer, my friend Mark Field's AHRMA F750 Commando, and my friend Rob Tuluie's AHRMA 750 Sportsman Commando. The AHRMA and AMA races were run the same week, with the AHRMA races at the beginning of the week, and the AMA races at the end. Both the PR and the monoshock had 920 engines, with me entered on the PR and Rob on the monoshock. As I recall, Mark and Rob both had good results in the AHRMA races, but in the AMA races we managed to break the crankcases on both 920s and didn't finish. Could have used some of Steve Maney's cases back then! I think this was my last AMA race. By then I was also doing AHRMA vintage racing, and I decided it was more appropriate for my skill level.

72 Combat
I just painted it in my version of original "Signal Red" with silver lettering.
In Mick Duckworths book "Norton Commando" there is a pretty one in red on page 71, although he calls it Cherry Red that I really liked.

Brought in home in non running condition in 2007 after being garaged since 1977 because a rocker adjuster screw had dropped down pushrod tunnel and was rattling on top of lifter! PO apparently couldn't bring himself to fix it. From 10' looks pretty good but pretty rough as you get closer. I had just degreased and pressure washed her.

Pulled her down to the crank and refreshed/replaced most everything.

Nice job on the restoration.
