What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Thanks Nigel, I hadn't considered the bars. Will try some things there first.
Your bike looks great with the Interstate tank and ( I assume shortened) Corbin on there.

Glen
Thanks Glen, yes, Corbin shortened to suit this tank. Corbins aren’t for everyone, but they work well for me, I obviously have a Corbin shaped arse !

Me too, most comfortable saddle ever which is just as well considering the journey ahead starting Thursday.

Toady I’m making final preparations for Arnie’s 2 week adventure to INOC Rally in Pescara, Italy. Last full wash and chain clean. This afternoon I’ll take him for a full warm up ride before an oil & filter change then I’ll be ready to load up although as last year in France, going super light; 1 50L roll bag and a pair of small panniers + rucksack. Luckily my bike came with a second Corbin 2 up seat😀

Mine is also set up like Nigel’s with the shortened Corbin seat and Interstate tank. This works well for me with stock footrests but I am 5’4”.Bike is very comfortable even on longer trips.

Seat? Largish posterior? Plod knows!
Now, of course, I don't have a big butt but Plod Specs do provide generous support.
I had to shorten the nose of the seat and had it rebuilt with lightweight foam and a new cover.
Interstate tank and bars with rearsets. It does tend to load up your arms at low speeds but at speed
the wind supports you well enough.
It really all depends on so many things all of which are down to your personal body dimensions.
There is no universal solution.

Fixed all 3 leaks after installing the new J.S. motor and starting it up , then shutting it down from oil and gas decorating my pavement out front .
Leaks were : Chain oiler short pipe . Pulled tank . Fix was a tighter boltplug into it with Hobot's favorite pruduct JB weld smeared in , after brake cleaner cleaning .
Rocker feed at head . Tightened it up . Easy peasy .
Left carb bowl drippings . Pulled bowl and bent down a tad the stay up float arm .
Warmed it up , no more leaks , drove to Canadian Tire where I found 2 bottles of Royal Purple in the Clearance bin at $ 13. 95 each .
Drove home , ran very well , no more leaks !

Did you notice a difference in running with the new parts?
Yes . I can highly recommend the J.S. Motorspots long rods / short pistons offered . Quality is superb . Vibrations are less . There is a longer dwell or rest at the top of the compression stroke , meaning a more complete burn with less vibrations as the piston does not do a sharp reversal downwards . . I am running Castrol Classic Zinc 20 W 50 for the break in period . I'll pull the tank , retorque the head to spec. in about 500 Kms. New oil filter then and new Royal Purple 20/50 will go in . Love it .
