What did you do with your Triumph today .

Nice day here ,went for a nice cruise around county , help keep the battery up , the half worn out muffler with only 200mm of baffle in the end the old triple could be heard howling for miles ., Putting The T back in the NVT .

Such a cool T160. They are just amazing bikes.

What brand header is that?

I'm not actually sure ,previous owner bought them second hand , but I think from memory he said they might be a earlier Viking pipes , I will add a new muffler soon , I was wondering about those dustall reverse cone , probably wassel ?
Anyone heard these mufflers ? .

I think it is a shame that more classic motorcycle enthusiasts have not had a chance to ride a well set up T150 or T160. I have actually never owned one but I have lots of experience fixing them and riding them from my bike shop days. They are unlike any British bike that I know of. They are not like the Triumph T120s or T140s of the day and not at all like the UJMs that followed. They have lots of torque even at low RPMs, a low center of gravity and a fantastic engine growl and exhaust note. They are, however, their own beast with their own peculiarities. I think the T160 with it's electric start and bigger tank is the nicest of the bunch.

Thanks Jim, just about all my bikes are from the 70s I've never ridden any late model motorcycle, it's my first triumph , it handles really really nice , I absolutely love the howl and growl and when blipping through the gears on the down shift it has a cool sound sort of a quick burble , at the other end of the rev counter it really goes smooth at 7000 its all quite addictive.

They look like the Viking headers that I have, the way the pipes all sway to the same side is the give away.

Worth talking to Paul at Viking as I’m sure he’ll be able to make / supply a suitable silencer if it is one of his pipes.

the thing looks like it might be but theyre not who they were ? if THAT CALIPER wernt in the way , you could tuck it in more flatter under the swing arm .

Olde STEEL Wassel would CHIME , tapped masculinly with a 9/16 in ring spanner . IS THE BLOKE AT HUNTLY still there ? doing custom pomy zorst set ups ??

theres Aus. stainless short reverse cone , on ebay & store . Think Yrs Pic is removeable rear cone , like somewere back then . the ugly ones .



These are The REAL period ( 1970 ) wassell . Note the radiused return , seen on the chrome ones . a disc is a inch or two in , with three rivets
so they can fall out so a truck can run over the baffle . P.K. Screws if checked occasionally hold em . these are STEEL , not ' tin ' .

rignle wass had this type a mount . click along pic.s . bit cheaper !
the bloke at the muffler shop at Browns Bay rolled up a Cone for the Commando .
Axtel Spec. ( outa the Clymer manuel . )

ANY sheet metal shop should , if theyre any good . and weld . theres TWO TYPES of stainless , gotta have THE RIGHT NUMBER , o.k. with HEAT .
