Without starting an uproar, I have used DOT5 in many of my bikes with no anti-lock brakes with no problems whatsoever. I like the way it doesn’t eat up your paint if mistakes are made.These bikes were never on a racetrack so I can’t comment on that application

It also doesn't absorb moisture, so has a longer life. When I quizzed BelRay tech people on their Dot 5, they couldn't offer a change out frequency.
 
Sunday ride to water dad's tomatoes. Had trouble starting after a 20 mile ride at 80F until it cooled down. Seems to be happening consistently.
Not fuel related. Thinking TriSpark module overheating. Once it cools down a bit, fires rght up.

I use a TriSpark unit in my bike and have never had any heat related problems running in higher temperatures than you experienced. I was always worried about the heat issue before installing the unit but never had any issues since. I also like the elimination of the black box under the tank.

Could be coil related, but you have 2 coils. Does it fire on one cylinder when hot or not at all? Maybe it is the trispark module. Later modules are better than early ones, in my experience. Check connections first as Torontonian said. Graham
 
Retorqued the 850 head and base barrel nuts . It was noticeably burning some oil after the 350 kms . break in and time to do it . All nuts and bolts were in need of re-tightening , the front 2 underside 7/16 were very loose and holding no clamping force . All others needed half a turn . The head gasket is a flame ring type from a gasket kit , A.N . Test ride went well , will keep an eye on it all .
 
Rode Nort to vintage event. I was 20 miles up the road when I noticed the Mercedes Sprinter ahead of me (and blocking view) swerve. There was a six foot ladder in the road. Managed to get far enough over so I only had to broad jump Nort over one of the bottom legs. Nort jumps like a thoroughbred - no shakes no swerves. Bike felt good, so I kept going, then I noticed when I slowed down that the side stand was scraping on the road. Pulled off freeway into gas station. End of spring was broken off. One good Samaritan tried to get the spring re-bent, which didn't work. I found a zip tie in my toolbag, which worked for a couple of minutes, then pulled out. Another good Samatarian gave me a foot or so of baling (safety?) wire and I wired the spring to the side stand. I will check later this evening (in a motel near event) but think I am good to get home.

Awesome . Help is always out there . Always ask for it .

Reminds me of when 2 empty steel barrels fell out of a pickup in front of me .
Time slowed down instantly and Norton handling saved the day .
 
Put on a new 28" braided SS front line hose. The other one that came with the cNw Brembo kit was just slightly short for what I am doing now.

More on that tomorrow.

When i was a buyer of used bikes for a bike shop in Southampton in the early 90s, I was.commuting between Tacoma and Seattle for work every day. Mostly on bikes awaiting shipment to the UK.

One day was riding a Yanaha Seca II (I liked that bike) and two vehicles ahead on the freeway was a pickup with a rack, and an 8ft aluminum ladder on top.

I saw it starting to dance on the rack as the driver gained speed out of.traffic, so i slowed right down. The guy in the early 70s Firebird in front of me didn't. He ended up spinning out and t-boning the concrete barrier when the thing finally flew off dead in front of him.

I parked on the shoulder behind him to see if he was OK, and he was. Asked him if he wanted the ladder. He didn't, so left it on the side of the road. I had to stop traffic so he could reverse out and leave.
