Great ride today, although got into a couple of ‘sticky’ situations! Noticed something sticking out of a mates Duc half way through the ride! He’d collected a branch (about a metre long) over the brow of a hill at speed - skewered a lower plastic cover and lodged firmly in place. Took some getting out - now that’s something you don’t see every day!

Stopped to sort it out next to a rest area. Lucky; needed to take a leak. What’s the chances of finding this 12” ‘stick’ insect sharing the cubicle!!

Half and hour from home and things got really sticky - pulled over by plod and points it was! Unfortunately I was on the mighty 990 - the Norton tank may have dazzled his speed cam!

Never dull!

Blast into the past today, through the Sunshine Coast hinterland and beyond - 30°C, blue skies, rude not to!

Early start and the usual fun avoiding roos, rozzers and roadkill; a very Australian ride! There’s towns out there that’ve barely changed since Capt Cook was kickin’ around!

The further out I got the more painful I knew the return was gonna be - I was right! Damn Skinner for this instrument of torture!

Came accross a couple of golden oldies. Know zero about trucks but easy enough to identify this old girl as a Ford F Series from the late 40’s, with the roadside assistance of the interweb. Had a chuckle to myself that the Norton’s engine technology dates almost that far back!!

Beyond patina I guess!

Anybody else riding, or fettling or just sat in the garage admiring? No picture - didn’t happen!

So I tried to make the most of what was promised to be a bit of winter sun and blue sky here in the South of England today. A really enjoyable ride out along some lovely roads, even if the weather man lied like a cheap watch...

It dried out a bit on the way back, so was able to open the taps a little and get in to the groove. I had the suspension set up by a local expert the other day, an investment well worth the £70, I'd say. It was way out, far too soft on the front and too hard on the rear. The bike is now a lot more balanced, the front end had to be brought up 15mm to make it level! I have to say, I'm loving my Norton experience so far - roll on a bit of better weather!

One upside is that I discovered my winter waterproof gloves aren't that wintery, or, indeed, that waterproof. I also paid the price for not packing my waterproof trousers - why is it that the rain runs straight off the tank and directly onto one's gentleman sausage? Incredible, really, considering the size of the target 🔎

So a weekend of cleaning is ahead, I think - stay safe, everyone!

Finally ‘bit-the-bullet’ - heading for a less torturous time on my CR.

Revo adjustable clipons should transform the ergos - the Oberon clutch should also be transformational. Hoses and cables available in my local area.

I’ll update as I go, for anyone interested in doing the same.

Fettle til’ ya settle!👍
