OK, here is the direction I am going. If I were Jim Comstock, I would probably make myself a custom oil pump, but I am not so I reconditioned the existing one. Then I hunted around and found this valve.
The valve is a Circle Seal 9500 series 1/4-inch valve in 316 stainless steel with viton seal. It is rated for 2000 PSI for industrial applications. These are a really nice valve, but they are not cheap, I haven't found a good source for them as yet, but a patient search on Ebay might find one. The valve is 1/4 pipe thread but the actual opening was 3/16-inch so I overbored it to 5/16-inch since I don't care if I destroy the pressure rating.
Here is what it looks like taken apart, after the boring. Yes, it is that easy to rebuild.
So, now here is the mocked-up and sure to be mocked location on the bike. Yes, I just used electrical tape to attach it to the hose for the photo. Yes, that is a ball point pen to simulate an extension on the valve handle. This is what it would look like in the open position.
This is what it would look like in the closed position.
Note that the extension on the handle would prevent you from comfortably using your foot peg, and make it nearly impossible to kick start the bike. I am looking around in my pile of debris for some SS tube, or aluminum pipe that would make a suitable extension. I am not sure how the finished product will look yet.
