That's sounding real good at idle, don't let it do that too much. Mine is still not smooth at idle, but I've newly put on the Pazon and haven't re-adjusted the carbys. That's for tomorrow. But on the road it's a terror and doesn't miss a beat, haven't had it over about 5K yet, but feels strong and I can't imagine it won't go past to red line or more.

Is your oil tank breather leaking? I just today put a line on it to drip off the side or into a bottle. I'm tired of the oil on the bottom of the GB, cradle and everything behind.

Nice find! Don't worry about it being completely original. A lot of the original parts are inferior to what you can find in the upgrade market and will make the bike run better and more reliably. Put on some Euro bars and, like Dave said, ride the crap out of it.

Dave,

Ive got the breather routed into the air filter, so I would not expect to see it, ever, when the bike is running it should suck it straight into the engine.

Just took it out to start the run in period, you know, to give it a beating, like you'd give a 12 year old at Kmart, this is a very different motorbike to the BSA, gets quite lite on the front wheel when strangling the throttle, I like it.

Tank has been finished and sent from the paint shop, just waiting its arrival, once here, the bike will be finished..........

Still trying to beat that "non mudflap wearing" Jordan to a completed bike, the race is on.

Hurry up.
I am going to let you in on a secret.... Milo tins come in a bigger size than Nestles', If you want a LR Tank.
I wonder if that puff of smoke is coming from the breather in the air filter.? I'm not sure I like that idea Josh.
Did you hone the bores, if you did, they might settle in when you start revving (beating ) it a bit.

The puff of smoke was the intake valve rubber boot, it has since been fixed and is working well.

You'll win. As per usual, I'm dragging my ass on finishing my build. :(

I just sent my master cylinder out yesterday for a resleeved variety from Clubman (they said they had one ready and waiting with my name on it when they received mine). I think I'm going out to dad's on Thursday to get the front end back together. Once that's done, we can hopefully make some serious progress this weekend and get most everything else done. HOPEFULLY.

That looks great, except for the damn mudflap. Lose the mudflap, Mad Max! :p

In all seriousness, congrats. That's a sweet bike. Now get out and ride! Mine will be done, uh, someday. /facepalm

Went for a 100 mile ride today, no problems thus far.

Vibrates like a bastard at 2700 RPM.

How many miles can one expect from a tank of fuel ?.

From the little tanks? Less than 100?

The painter didn't align the 750 Commando with the top of the side cover, did he?

I used to get 45-50 mpg with Sunoco hi-test gas and the 30mm Amals, 2.5 gal = 100 to 125 miles. If I drove to West Virginia from Maryland, I always had to plan and stop at nearly every station I went by. It's not a bad thing to stop a lot on a M/C. I'm not sure what I get with the avgas yet, but plan on testing it. So far seems about the same, but I have lost some in the process, I'm not through 10 gallons with 200 miles, but I lost a full tank once, so that makes maybe 6 gallons for 200 miles. That's only 33mpg, but it's better than that.

Don't pay any attention to SwooshDave, he's jealous.

Totally! I know which bike I would prefer to own and it's not the yellow one. If you want to be petty I used to own and race a proper proddy Commando(Norvil) and SD's is no where near
BTW I have a Roadster Commando with the 2.25 gallon(UK) tank with a range of well over 100 miles cruising at 50-70mph and I never get less than 50mpg.

Thanks Gents.

Swoosh Dave is just taking the piss, he's been a little jealous ever since that time he saw me in the shower......... :D , I tried to explain to him that it didn't really matter and that he would eventually find a woman who would love him just the way he was...... :D

Less than 100 miles, petrol station to petrol station it is, that must be good for the old guys with bladders the size of walnuts.
