Lithium Battery Mounted: JB Rubber

The remainder of the JB Weld is now peeling in large sections. It's very rubbery and elastic at this point, even thick sections peel off and will bend back onthemselves.

Removed tank and rinsed out interior. I prepped the area with 200 grit sandpaper and cleaned with acetone. Mixed equal amounts of JB Weld and applied. Let it sit for a few days, then remounted and filled with gas. The JB Weld was hard at that point.

As you can see by this time it is pretty rubbery. I had opened the package to mix some up 6 or 7 months ago, so maybe it has lost something in the meantime? In any case, everyone I talk to says JB Weld is the trick for this repair. I purchased some JB Stick, which is specifically listed as an application for gas tanks and supposedly will setup in gasoline. Will try that next!

Cheers,

That sucks, the rest of the world gets JBW to work for gasoline sealing but you. If trying get JBW or about any sealer to set up in gasoline vapors or moisture then all bets off and best wishes on your experiments. I would not trust JBW or about any sealer until after a few days and then prefer to heat it up by sun or hair dryer too.
