Lithium batteries

Of course, people should do as they choose!
I've just tried to correct the misinformation as it gets posted. That results in ridicule from some users of Lithium batteries. l'm not sure why but that is almost always the response. If what you are saying doesn't line up with what people want to do, some will always try to make you look silly.

Words like moron and Luddite show up pretty quickly. Sarcastic comments to defend choices are the norm.

I agree that enough has been said about Lithium batteries, by me at least.
To each his own.

Well said.
That it is so often the type of reply is too bad, puts a sour twist on the subject for everyone else.
I read along as a discussion of the pros and cons of a newer electrical storage technology, not a beat it to death style oil thread.
Big difference between the two.
I was never "worried" one way or the other. Just interested in the comparative opinions/experience between lead acid and Lithium and users opinions of the two.

Can anyone decipher this Yuasa date code?

Fire on a subway car here a few weeks back caused by an E-Bike:

"The fire was caused by the failure of a lithium ion battery pack, which Pegg said occurred rapidly with it igniting “within seconds of the presence of visible gases being emitted from the battery.”"

The really cheap E-bikes and E-scooters have low quality Chinese battery packs which have a sad history of doing this. Plus if you watch how folks ride and handle the E-scooters, they make damage to the battery packs a virtual certainty.

Followed by Jack ass, half-assed, and douchebag. I feel so special.

I never expected this thread to go on for so long. Update...The Shorais are too expensive so I settled for a MOTOBAT MB9U. 12.90 volts brand new. I think that's all I can expect from anything less than a lithium battery which are usually around 13.50 volts.
