One question though, what’s happened to the rear brake cable? I can’t make it out clearly, but It looks like it’s either missing or routed strangely.
Cable seems to be there, but the outer isn't in the retainer. Inner and outer will be pulling together.

Just in case you’re not aware, this is the correct routing for the cable.
Thanks. I was just researching the routing on this thread. This bike's cable sheath is too short (as seems to be an issue with aftermarket cables) to make it reach the rear cable guide between the ends, no matter how I route it. The best result I got was over the exhaust and under the exhaust mount, rather than through it. Still, it won't allow the ferrule (?) to situate in the housing. So many bits to talk about for which which I don't know the right term. Anyway, dang, maybe even double dang. Routing it 'my way' may have real isuses. Routing it the proper way with this cable will mean a very convoluted and unworkable (IMO) situation. The brake works this way but I don't want to do things wrong. Perhaps further convo on this is best for a different part of the forum as this is a 'pictures' thread.

Measure how long it should be , I may have one for ship cost …
Thanks Craig. It's actually just about the same even if I route it through the 'proper' way but just about an inch too short . I'll measure it up and let you know. I need to yank the wheel off and have a look at the rear brake shoes, they must be slivers because I am winding that adjuster all the way to the stops. Dang 3x.

Something doesn't sound right somewhere...
Do you have a current photo of the footrest/pedal/cable assembly?
Mine currently looks like this, and the drum has newly relined shoes:

Mine runs similarly but on the inside of the exhaust mounting plate (on the swingarm side)
Your cable looks as though it will wear on the plate as the swingarm goes up and down. Can't be good!
Incidently - mines a Venhill teflon lined cable - perfecto!!
...and I use a "Cliffahanger" on my brake switch - thanks @cliffa !! 👍
Cheers
