Would any of you custom / modify your Commando?
Such as these? Or leave It original?

If the metal version looked as good as the computer renderings then why the hell not? They look great!

Lot of work (and cost) though. Is that a new frame? It would be a shame to spend a gazillion dollars to end up with something that looked like a stock Dommie or similar!

But most of the (presumably very expensive) 961 custom builds I’ve seen thus far have looked pretty naff to my eye. Perhaps the bike does not easily lend itself to custom re designs? Perhaps Norton got it so right that it’s too difficult to actually improve on it?! There is a big difference between ‘modifying’ and ‘improving’...

I’d have to be absolutely confident the metal was gonna live up to the expectations set by the computer.

If I went the customisation route, first thing on the list would be to fit FCR carbs and ditch the airbox.

I like to see full blown customs, some are truly great, others leave yourself asking why? On the other hand I like to see a LOT of personalisation of bikes, nothing worse than pulling in to a bike meet and seeing 20 versions of exactly the same bike in the obligatory factory choice of 2 colours for that season..... so bars, mirrors, levers, tyres, seat, paint, exhaust and all the myriad of accessories you can get that help to make your bike just that little bit different but still standard in most other respects.

They are such a pain to keep in order but I do like my silver rims.......
Other than that number 3 if I had to choose - don't know why but I do like those Ohlin forks.

I thought this looked slightly familiar - forks have a bit more of the Ariel girder look about them.

FCR’s – Schwing!!

I like #2 as well, but prefer aluminum engine finish with classic black cylinder barrels.

Also:

1. Move oil cooler down to a “chin” cooler

2. Classic 7 spoke Morris styled mag wheel

#3 does look very good.a d looking at it, it looks quite doable. It looks like it’s based on a stock 961, stock frame, tank etc.

#3 makes me think if an AJS 7R.
Nice in lots of ways but i'm not a fan of the short rear end look.
I must be behind the times again, or still??

Shoehorning a Triumph Thruxton 1200 mill into a monoshock featherbed frame.
Oh, beautiful, and way cool!
