sprockets

Ok, received a front and rear sprocket today. Happy to ask about a group buy, but I think £20.84 plus vat is the best price we will get, as they said they will have to set the machines up specially for us. On the front sprockets, they said once the three (now two) have gone, unless they are a fast mover ( I suspect not!) it will take a minimum order to get them to do a production run.

I’ll give them a call next week and nail down a MOQ and price and ask about rear sprockets and Cush drive rubbers as well.

Assuming this all looks good, I’m happy to place an order, but will need cash up front. I’d then ship at cost. Sound like the beginnings of a plan?

Sounds great to me Vernon, thanks very much.

Hello Vernon , I think the TALON prices are very good. It may be probable , all you will need to do is provide them with a list of buyers and quantity and part numbers etc. If TALON will move forward , each buyer may be able to deal with TALON directly via email with credit card etc.. This makes most sense if they will ship overseas . If TALON need a hard number and payment upfront , that changes things . I would like to make it easier for you if possible . Thanks for looking into it.

Let’s see how they want to play it. It might be if we all place orders directly, when we reach the MOQ, that triggers the production run. I’ll report back!

as I said in a previous thread, Talon reps said they have a lot of rear chains bought for the 961.

I received an email from TALON this morning and it does appear they want a batch buy to keep the price per sprocket lower. I wish Norton UK would place a big order for us , this would help tremendously. Vernon , do you have a pay pal account ? TALON want a bank transfer and with fees this cost goes up tremendously. This won't be easy , first we need a list of trusted buyers . Then an order needs to be place for the requisite minimum . Then our UK agent must package and ship the sprockets out. This is a lot of work and I hate to ask you to do it.

I also read that the TCDR-1 will be in stock soon at TALON . And as far as I can tell these are the best cush rubbers yet. If there is any way to get these into the order now is the time.

I wrote to Talon and this is the response received today:

Good afternoon Claudio

I hope this email finds you well, thank you for your enquiry and I am sorry for the delay in coming back to you.
We do have the rear sprocket is stock, but in gold colour and the price is £39.20 each
I am sorry but we do not have any front sprockets in stock at the moment, we seem to have had a little run on these, we could make a one off for £80.00 or if you have some acquaintances that also want them, we could make a batch at a better price?

If we make more requests, perhaps it is possible to lower the price

Sprockets from Theil were £38.34, while Talons are £25 ish, so 50% more than I was quoted at Talon..but there is no guarantee we would get that price from Talon now. I'll have a chat with them.

But a little support to Ollie goes a long way with the support he provides to the 961 community.

I contacted talon via email and they don’t even know that the sprockets on the dominator and commando are the same. On top of that they said they don’t even have or offer a front sprocket for the 961. Nor do they offer Cush rubbers. Wth. They can’t be serious.

Agree, I've bought parts from Ollie as well and he is very helpful and fully deserving of our support for sure. I've spoken with Talon and said they would have to work things out, so I said I'd drop them an email, which they can then respond to, so lets see. I'm kinda torn on this one, as we should support Ollie/Theil as well, as over 100 sprockets is a significant investment for him.

I'm also going to ask about the cush driver rubbers, so In short:

Front sprockets, MOQ and price per sprocket.
Rear sprockets, what's the situation.
Chain, what make and how much.
Cush drives. What is the situation there.

In regards to payment, lets see what the above questions reveal before we go to far along on this.

WOW , So it depends on who we talk to I suppose : From Val at Talon :

Good afternoon Anthony

Thank you for your email and interest in our parts.

I am afraid we only have one front sprocket in stock, and these are made to order specials for us and would cost £80.00 each to manufacture another one (unless you have some friends that are also interested and you could order a batch between you, this would make the price more favourable?).

If you confirm by return, I can reserve the front sprocket we have left for you.

To confirm this order, I would need your full name, address, telephone number, email address and we could send you a pro-forma invoice for a bank transfer. Please not the carriage costs may be higher as you have increased your order.

We are expecting the cush drive rubbers in stock by the end of the week.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to come back to me.

Kind regards

Val

I would suggest that we do a batch buy especially for the cush drive rubbers !

OK, I spoke to Sarah and emailed the questions. She and Val know what the situation is, so I've asked about cush drive rubbers as well, as they seem to be the most consumable part on these bikes!
