Your bike looks nice ! Does the fly-screen help
at all with helmet-buffeting?

Which is more rare, sun in Ireland or a running Norton?

I toured round the coast of Ireland once, on the Commando. Brilliant weather all the way ....until Connemara and then a whole season's worth of precipitation in one day (and no-where to hide from it).

Holy smokes, dave. Whats the issue over there? I will tell you right now, it is damn rare when my Norton doesn't run. I am sure that I am not alone in this regard.

Quite frankly, I don't appreciate your tone. IMHO

Hi Ying,

It does help a little, I had it sitting around from when I had a 2001 Triumph Bonneville.

I noticed a difference on the motorway, not with helmet-buffeting just general wind pressure on my torso. I'm 6' 3" tall so I'd need a much bigger screen to stop head-buffetting!!

Yep, sounds very familiar. I was traveling in a car from NI on Monday and in the space of 2 miles the wipers went from full on manic speed due to the torrents of rain to being switched off and the air conditioning turned up because the sun was so hot!!!

My plan is to do a fair bit of touring over the next 8 weeks and get to as many rallies as I can.

Ahhhh pvisseriii" leave swooshdave alone  :D

It's probably taken me nearly 4 years to get the bike to this stage, I'm a slow worker!! It's never really been off the road but I looked upon it as a rolling project and still do. When funds allowed I tackled each issue after annoying everybody on this board about possible solutions.

Hopefully I can clock up some miles over the summer and use the bike as it was intended.

I had a good size shovel screen on and off and on and off again. I really think it is smoother off. Head buffets the same with or without for me. The change in air flow above and below the top of the screen seems to create more disturbance than with no screen at all. You would have to go full screen to be protected, so to speak. IMHO
The cleaner look out ways any benefit from the screen.

Nice pics, you seem a bit on the short side :D plenty of cover from the screen :D must be difficult to kickstart the Norton

I know what you mean about screens, they can sometimes cause more problems than solve. One of the main reasons for the flyscreen is less to do with flys and more to do with rain, it keeps the worst of the driving rain away from some of the electrics.

I went for a ride Sunday, nothing broke and nothing fell off. It was successful. There must be something in the air.

I went for a ride, nothing like the sound of a V-twin at full hollar...

Does this mean you are putting a v-twin in your Norton or are you quacking up.

V-Twin? Who's got a V-Twin? Or are you riding with someone?
