Summer has gone, pictures stay.
I am everytime astonished how tiny this motorcycle is.
 
I found some old polaroids of my Norton cafe from 1970. I believe the bike was a 69? Purchased used from a Norton dealer in Syracuse NY. Was told it had the Dunstall 810 kit and it came with that seat and tank in purple. I recall the dealer ran it at the Cicero NY drag strip https://www.estadrags.com/ for a season before selling me the bike with a fresh rebuild. I finished it up with the cafe kit and fresh 70's paint scheme. I believe it was the winter of my senior year in high school. The bike was very fast and would wheelie the entire length of the school parking lot. Had a lot of fun on that bike..........

Nice, i think that bubble paint scheme would be cool!
 
Was that Norton dealer on Erie Blvd? My Bonneville came from Central Square. North Syracuse had a nice little Triumph dealer too. The memories!

The Black covers make the bike look smaller to me, which is a good thing. Very tidy package. Well done.

Its beautiful and a credit to you. You should be very proud of what you've done.
When you think about it, It's incredible what the Commando design team managed to put together in just a few months. What is it about the Commando that over 50 years later still looks fresh and other manufacturers are still trying (unsuccessfully) to emulate?

IT looks much better in an 8x10, thanks. History: YD had a severe crash in Daytona in March 2002, He called and asked if I had a bike for him to ride, so I set up the old # 3 bike for him. In the Big bike race, in the Laconia hair pin at the end of the long down hill straight, two fellow Canadiens on Nortons almost tangles with Yvon trying to out brake him. But by the start finish he already had a comfortable lead and this picture is of him on the second to last lap on at start finish glaring back and as Joe Bolger said " Yvon sure spent a lot of time looking back." But YD showed why he is in 5 hall of fame and always rode well as his equipment would allow. The fans flocked to the bike and the CHR Commando showed it was much more than a show pony and more like the thorough bred a Commando can be.
This is the last race YD ever won and very fittingly on my #17 Bike. It took a lot of balls to race on this track as it was riddled with danger that could easily kill you.
