plus the inevitable cafe racer

p.s. the cafe racer is another bike, the Roadster is still intact

They're all nice but the Cafe Racer is very special. All your own work ? What do you call it, a Featherback, Fastbed ? Is the engine rigidly mounted ?

Cheers,

cliffa.

Thanks, I never thought of a name. Featherback sounds like a condom, so maybe Fastbed is most suitable. The engine is rigidly mounted, and it is a bit vibratory, but it looks cool. And yes, I did build it up myself over a couple of years.

Ah yes, I see what you mean about the name ;) Credit to you though, it looks like a factory bike.

Nice pipes acadian. What model are they from and how do they anchor to the frame? And where did you get the finned points cover?

Standard SS headers, though the timing side required some bending to get them where I wanted.

The brackets I fabbed up from alloy angles, primary mount is the upper shock bolt, and there's a nut brazed to the frame downtube to pin the inner plate. Two ISOs are sandwiched between that and the plate on the silencer.

Points cover is from a fleabay seller I get lots of blingy stuff from (mesh primary plugs etc.), I think the seller's name is "Eurotrash Jambalaya"

Yes Ken, it’s street legal, which is where it spends most of its time.

No, it doesn’t get raced. Both bike and rider not really being up to that task !

But with taped up lights and zip tied stand, it has provided much fun on many track days.

Not sure what your point is wot?

Great bike Nigel. I love that it's pretty much set up to race, but is street legal too. So,... what happened to the front fender between picture 1 and picture 2?...

I took it off to save weight and gained three tenths per lap...

Or... I discovered that the tyre was rubbing inside it due to tyre growth. So removed it... subsequently replaced by a Kevlar Manx mudguard from Andy Molnar.

It's a street bike, right? Where do races or track days come in? Not attacking your post, just confused by it.

Ken

Zip tied stand? That's a new one. That wouldn't pass inspection here even for a track day.

Where exactly is "here"? I've done track days with my Speed Triple at Mid-O with a tied up stand and taped lamps.

Trident Hunter, now with revised rear sets and back to standard exhausts in place of the 2:1...

Two Q's: What length is the braided brake line up front? Does the rear hub collect road grime being exposed like that?

Depends on the mood of the track scrutineers .
On a race day any attached sidestand would not be allowed, but a non race track day is different.

Wow! An awesome bike being dissed because the owner doesn't race? This thread is just about sharing a photo of a bike.

Very normal here that for track days stands have to either be removed, lock wired or zip tied. Lights taped up. Also, for track days no lock wiring is required for sump plugs etc, unlike racing.

Still not sure what your beef was? If thats all it was... happy we’ve resolved it !

The brake hose is the standard length that Matt supplies in his kit. It’s too long, so there’s a long loop behind the headlamp! I haven’t shortened it as I’m so often playing with different handle bars etc... If you’re asking how long does it need to be with this set up, I can measure and let you know...

Yes, the rear hub gets crud in it. But at least I don’t have to polish the plate ! My plate was damaged by the original speedo drive fouling it, that was the original reason I took it off.
