TBH it was the on/off 'enrichment' device that I couldn't live with. Suits many, I know, but I just found it a royal PITA....

Yes, had a pair on the P11 into which I dropped chromed brass slides and they ran fine, alas the Commando came with a non matching (internally!) pair that were begging for replacement...
Yes, I see what you mean. So far I’ve solely started it twice from cold and I then realised the lever could be set halfway or so while it warmed up. Ideally it needs a good bit of fine weather and a run.TBH it was the on/off 'enrichment' device that I couldn't live with. Suits many, I know, but I just found it a royal PITA....
When I bought the cable conversion for my MK2 amals on my t140 e I was surprised you could use partial choke with an enricherYes, I see what you mean. I’ll double check, maybe tomorrow when I’ll be clearing the garage and can get to it.When I bought the cable conversion for my MK2 amals on my t140 e I was surprised you could use partial choke with an enricher
I'd assumed it was either on or off
Yes, of course. Usually full on to start, immediately to 1/2 once it fires up, then as soon as it can take throttle blips without stumbling, lift slides full off. When I bought the cable conversion for my MK2 amals on my t140 e I was surprised you could use partial choke with an enricher

Apologies, but are we at cross purposes here? I thought the discussion was Mikuni/Amal Mk2... Neither of which have 'choke slides' (As opposed to the 'throttle slides'), I believe??Yes, of course. TBH I was just struggling to understand how you could introduce variables in a system which appeared to be either: 'Hole open' or: 'Hole closed'.... That's allThe Amal Mk2/Mikuni enrichment plungers can be set between the fully on and fully off positions. Probably easier with the 'choke' cable/lever conversion.
I have two theories on thisThe Amal Mk2/Mikuni enrichment plungers can be set between the fully on and fully off positions. Probably easier with the 'choke' cable/lever conversion.
Is it possible without the choke cable conversion? The Amal Mk2/Mikuni enrichment plungers can be set between the fully on and fully off positions. Probably easier with the 'choke' cable/lever conversion.

I have the same setup on my t160 only with a t150 date boxSetting the lever between ON and OFF is possible on the Mikuni VM although it can be a bit of a juggling act while riding...
ON...
...Mid...
...OFF
...when there are three of them...
...although I would normally set the centre carb lever off before riding and use the outer two as the plunger pin on the RH side can be pushed down (off) easily enough without looking and my T160 warms up pretty quickly.

As a side note my t160 will not start with the the throttle closed and the enrichers full on
I have to open the throttle as I press the starter button
What year would they have been taken and do you have the same bike?Got this in the mail from my Dad today. Thought I'd share. Love you Dad.
Not sure of the date, maybe ‘73 or ‘74. I do not have the same bike. Mine is a’75 mk3.What year would they have been taken and do you have the same bike?
