The Tab tanks, from the ones I've worked with, are actually much more forgiving than the Norton 961 aluminium tanks when it comes to polishing.I've had a couple of alloy tanks from TAB2, both got painted after awhile, as in use they scratch way too easily. Keeping an alloy tank looking good is a never ending job...
I'd never used Mothers until I started at Norton....now I get through shit loads of the stuff. Tried various others, but never impressed by the final shine. Autosol I do still get through, but used more as a cutting compound on a rotary.
Considering the motorcycle cleans are offered as complimentary, I spend far too much money on products and far too many hours doing it.
For black paint work, I 100% recommend Poorboys Blackhole. Been using that for many years on my show car....if you've got a black 961, buy a bottle of it, I guarantee you'll be impressed.
