Good looking bike . You didn't like the black rims ?Making the most of the last sunny days of the year..
From an old engineer,The bikes in the showroom all had polished rims, so didn't really think about it. Besides I'm a sucker when it comes to a bit of bling lol.
For sure, I buy Autosol by the dozen lol..Beware, when I picked up my 961SP in May the salesman warned me about riding on salted roads ruining the rims, he was right. 10 days at the Manx riding in the usual rain did them no good at all , lots of black stains front and rear. Half a tube of Autosol + a few hours polishing with microcloth got them shiny again, now wiping over with ACF50 and watching closely. Other than this no problems in 1500+

Autosol is very coarse and doesn't offer much in the way of lasting protection either. You'll get better results with Mothers Mag & Alu.
Nothing that looks nice provides any real protection for bare alloy from salted roads IMO.I've used Mothers, never found it gave any useful protection from our salt covered roads. While taking much longer to bring up a decent shine on dull alloy.
Autosol leaves the aluminium tanks looking like they've been polished using an old nylon shirt. From what I've found, Mothers outranks them all for shine, and maintaining it from oxidation. No polish will protect polished aluminium from salt, even more so with the polished rims on the 961 which tarnish ridiculously easily.I've used Mothers, never found it gave any useful protection from our salt covered roads. While taking much longer to bring up a decent shine on dull alloy.
