Great pics Clive, love to see the Norton getting a good thrashing! What tyres were you using and how did they perform? I am running Michelin Power RS but am looking at options. Thanks.

Steve

Hi - Thanks for the comments - I fitted Dunlop Sportsmart 3 just over a year ago. It was between those and the Roadsmart which are supposed to be a bit better in the wet. Most of my riding is commuting generally vertical and I have been pleased that they haven't squared off like the previous Qualifiers. During my track session it started to drizzle and no scares. I was pushing it to the point of grounding and if they are still gripping at that point then I can't ask for much more. I did notice at first that they turn in quite quickly compared to the Q's but a thumbs up from me overall and I would fit again.
By the way I have been really pleased with a Michelin tyre pressure monitor gadget - around £70. I would just secure it into the holder better if you get one.

Nice one Clive !
It may amuse you to learn that when I arrived there was a bit of a panic as my clutch slave cylinder bracket had broken in half where it is drilled and 'lightened' just from vibration so cable ties saved the day yet again!

Being serious for a mo if I may Clive...

I would advise caution as you proceed with your racing career. What I’m warning about depends largely on personality type, so may or may not effect you hard.

Some folk can race very casually, turn up when they want and not when they don’t, etc. Some folk just can’t. They get addicted and racing basically takes over. EVERYTHING.
(you can guess what I’m basing this evidence on I’m sure  )

Even Steve McQueen famously said “Racing is life. Everything else is waiting”. Which looks cool written on posters and t shirts... but they’re the words of an addict in reality !

You have been warned.

Carry on...

Point taken - I'm far to old and sensible to be hooked in although I think that saying by Steve McQueen shows a distinct lack of commitment.

Now let's get that spare kidney on ebay.ru - I really need those tyre warmers

Sorry Clive, somehow missed this response to my question. Must pay more attention - so the wife tells me anyway!

I have’nt tried either of those tyes but will do a little background reading. I’m really just looking for maximum grip and little else. My annual mileage is quite low. Cannot fault the Michelin Power RS for grip, although might try the Corse Rosso 3’s. My riding buddy seems to have endless grip with those on his Ducati. Don’t mind admitting that I am a fair weather rider; if the long range weather forecast says there’s a 2% chance of rain I’ll give it a miss;). So, not concerned about wet weather performance. I may have look at the Michelin Tyre Pressure Monitoring System - never used a TPMS before; useful and a good safety measure also.

Thanks for the feedback Clive. I’ll be watching your racing exploits with interest.

Steve.

There is no question when seeing that , this bike is a Norton ! I thank you for doing this and posting. Every time you take your bike out , you are helping to verify that Norton is still alive . Everyone must remember to ride their bikes , appreciate what they have and let everyone see we are still here . You asked for more ground clearance , what is touching first the mufflers ?
