Clive do you know if the stock long mufflers can be modified to remove the baffles? They are still growing on me :)
I have a pair of long opens available. I’ve had a pair of customs one made that are slightly narrower and look more like the old Dunstals. They really suit the bike - I haven’t figured out how to get a picture up on the site but I think you’ll all like the look :)

They look very neat and very ‘Norton’.

It reminds me about the debate about aftermarket parts... why doesn’t someone who wants to be in that business take up making stuff like this, stuff that folk want and the factory don’t make ??

Sorry, but it would not be practical to strip an existing pair of pipes to remove the baffles - although as Stuart says 'anything is possible'. But even the long opens are a bit too quiet in standard form. You would have to talk to the factory about whether they could do you some modified long opens and maybe trade on the shorties.... The shorties don't look too bad - you find you tend to get used to how your bike looks after a while....

Or have a look on the Interweb for someone who could fabricate some long opens as you have the existing ones as a pattern? Worth a look.

Why not buy the ones Kiwi is selling above?

Gotta be the best looking long pipes out there.

Can’t quite understand why some entrepreneurial type out there doesn’t set up to make a small batch...

Air cooled vertical twin... English seaside resort... sunshine... sea breeze... fish'n chips.... fond memories!

I have to say again, looks bloody great in this colour. I leased an audi around 7 years ago and chose white which back then was a bold choice but had many compliments. Then all the footballers and wags and everyone else started choosing white and put me off the colour. But this looks stunning, well done. Did you sign up for the track day with sportsbikeshop?

I belong to a FB site where the hosts, husband and wife (bet some of you know them) both bought 961s and had a buddy make a set of pipes for each. They looked nice. Sounded great.

I will have the shorties on in a fortnight and I am sure I am going to love them.... I am getting used to the long ones though and the view from the rear is pretty spectacular!

I have a disability... short arms and deep pockets ;)

I have a mate who has had a set of 'Norton D' cans made by a local company and they sound fantastic on his Triumph. Apparently this company has the original blueprints for the cans. I don't pretend to know anything about them except they are cones about same length as the Norton 'shorties' and have a 'D' cross-section profile. I am sure he said they were £300 for the set. I might look into getting a set made for the 961 in the Summer but a little apprehensive about how any aftermarket can will affect the fuel mapping.

I am not usually a fan of white but when I first went to the factory with a view to getting a Dominator, Clem had a white Commando sport in the showroom with black engine and I knew on the spot that was the bike for me.

I have had a couple of white bikes in the past.... a JPN replica 850MkII Commando in 1981 and a Buell S1 White lightning in 2000 so the timing was good to get another lol

Track days aren't my cup of tea although I am happy to go along and cheer you guys on.... :)
