Pictures of your Norton 961

Interesting pic and brief detail from Keith on FB - detailing what he had to do to get his 961 dialed in.

Quite liking the custom seat unit.

Hello Again Richard , Great pics . Can I ask if your front fender has been modified ? I see that you have a longer splash guard on a USD fork front fender ? It appears longer at the back than what I am seeing now on the new bikes.

Watcha Tony , yes it’s an extender , carbon fibre , same weave as the existing front mudguard , ment for a 675 triumph , & attached with marine grade silicon, no screws

Finally got around to ditching the fugley OEM indicators today and replaced them with Rizoma Club indicators.

Tidies up the bike, especially the ass end, quite a bit. A ‘3’ on the ‘beard scale of difficulty’ mainly because the headlamp mounting projections for the indicators are so deep - had to improvise.

Next tank and then fairing - fettle on till tis done!

Show us the front end please.

Hey peebee, as requested.

Temporary solution for mounting the front indicators, until the Thruxton fairing is fitted.

The 961 headlight mounting brackets have two holes each side - one elongated to receive the original indicator wires, the other threaded for the securing screw.

Rizoma indicators have a threaded portion which (along with the wires it carries) fits through the elongated hole. However, the configuration of the mounting bracket rear aperture does not permit access for the securing nut.

I secured the indicator to the backing plate, which I drilled to accept the securing screw and spaced with another nut. If this were a permanent solution I would manufacture a threaded adapter block.

Worth noting for anyone wishing to fit Rizoma indicators to the Donington 961. Birmingham 961 uses the Dommie headlight brackets so the problem goes away.

Looking pretty f’en good there Stephen

It's good that you understand the reality of the situation, and are now resigned to it.
That makes owning a 961, or any Norton for that matter, much easier.:D

Popped into the UK,s oldest motorcycle dealership today ( Triumph main dealer ) 1890 something apparently, J S Gedge in Hastings, & noticed this gem , the new owner was collecting it today , 400 miles on the clock , oringinal owner waited a few years for it then decided he preferred a thruxton , so forgive me but have inc a pic of a “ ton up “ special version , 1 year old & £13K , pretty soughted.
I left the dealer with a piece of paper for the new owner with “ Access Norton “ written on it

Quick 150Km blast around the hinterland this morning, paying scant regard to the road rules. I’m pretty sure that it’s compulsory to grow up and act yer age, at some stage!! No sign yet.

Interesting contrast of styles. The Duke 890R only has 300k’s on it but promises to be a bit of a missile, is super light and flickable - a proper scalpel through the bends. Struggle with the styling a bit though, but hey - it’s a KTM! Accessorising the ugly out of it is how they make their money right.

With this bike he doesn’t have any of the extra tech from the power parts catalogue. If he wants the ‘tech pack’ and ‘track pack’ he needs to shell out another A$1200 on the first service! Other Kato models include the extra tech and then take it away, if you don’t shell out at the first service. Not sure which approach I like less.

Out - fat boy breakfast - back! Home in time for tea and medals.

S’wot Sunday morning is for!
