I installed a sparx three phase alternator and regulator, trispark electronic ignition (last year's model), and colorado norton works coil. At the same time I rewired my 1971 Commando to a positive ground. I also installed the eastern beaver h4 headlamp, a new horn, a new keyed ignition switch, and handlebar switch. New spark plug wires and resistor plugs were also installed. I have set the timing to 28 degree tdc before installing the trispark. For the life of me, I cannot get the bike to produce any spark! The battery tests for 12.3 volts. I'm getting just over 3 ohms across the coil. The headlamp comes on and hi/lo switch works. The horn will not. I do not have the horn on a relay.

I can only think of two problems that may be causing the lack of spark: (1) the electronic ignition is a dud or (2) the bike needs to be on a negative ground. Any ideas?

You don't say where you are, but 12.3 volts is quite a low reading for a supposedly good battery.
Unless its quite cold there ?

Try charging up the battery a bit first ?
No horn is not a good sign either, the battery has no oomph to it...

I would recommend that you jumper the ignition for power and ground to verify that it's good to go.

I can't see how you would not be back at square one, as far as timing goes, when you installed the TriSpark.

It's a brand new battery and was fully charged when I put it on. It sat a day or two at the time I wrote the post. The horn is brand new and is wired in through the new handlebar switch found here: http://www.kandstech.com/pimages/12-0041.html. I cannot figure out why it won't work either. The headlamp does.

Everything is new on the electrical system, down to Every wire and connector. And I've pulled the spark plug, touched it to the head and cannot see any spark.

I've read some say that with a tri spark and sparx three phase, you have to have a negative ground. Any truth to this?

I would suspect you're having trouble with switches, re: the horn, and possibly the ignition. Hot wire it and see what happens. Bypass all those old connections, or even if they're new.

Jumper for power and ground if it doesn't work. We were just down this road a few weeks ago. New switches and looms aren't necessarily reliable. I bought a new right side switch gear set to remedy an iffy kill switch. The new one didn't work. When I took it apart I found a solder ball stuck in a glob of flux jammed in there. I've seen people post similar problems enough to check everything that goes on my bike with a multimeter first. Check it for resistance before hooking it up, then for power after it's installed.
