Pictures of your Norton 961

Yeh ok, I should fettle less and ride more!! Which I would, if it’d stop fuggin’ rainin’!

Final colour scheme for tank’n’tail still eludes. Designing a few decals in Photoshop - relatively cheap to have made; might spark a few ideas. It’s either that or get on with the wife’s ‘honeydo’ list of chores!

For those interested in the history of the Cafe Racer (where modern sports bikes hailed from) the 59 will have some meaning.
Try deleting the air box for a K&N or meshed intake trumpet......

Definitely ‘men behaving badly’ today - nothing like 200km of hinterland hooning in the sun for maximum fun!

The Norton did’nt miss a beat - my right hip however seized up twice, which is a bit dicey if you’ve ever experienced it; especially at speed! Those bars have gotta go!!

Some blasphemer quipped about my body breaking down more than my bike! Nobody likes a smart ass!!😆

The reason you seize up and your mates don’t is simple… they have lots of rest breaks whilst waiting for you to catch up… 🤣

No way Fast Eddie!

They’ve never actually finished their coffee’s before I get there!! Well,………..not always anyway!

OK, fair point!!

Slow Steve 😫

Quite a lot of info on the seized-hip thing if you Goggle it but no simple fix. I have clip-ons and used to get it a lot until I changed my riding jeans. hardly ever now. Could be a coincidence but wonder if it pressure on a nerve somewhere where you're bent over? Some bright spark might have a more educated answer...

Good point Clive - I’ve got a couple of pairs of biking jeans though and it occurs with both; one set is quite loose. The riding position is just too extreme for my height/shape with the drop bars fitted.

Despite the locking, I don’t have hip problems. Quite a few other injuries though. Previous life was very physical - not many manage without breaking bits.

I do intend to ‘pull my thumb out ‘o’ my ass’ and purchase those adjustable drops - two choices in mind. Extended front brake braided hoses and throttle cables and ‘bobs yer uncle’! Pretty sure that will solve the problem. 👍

Hope so - like I said it's a bit difficult to pin it down - I am used to cycling 'on the drops' and never got it on a cycle, and never got it on my Ducati Supersport which is more of a 'sitting on toilet' stance.

Think that'll do the trick!
Make sure that you post everything, I know a geezer on this site who's also interested in the same fix.:p

TRW automotive sell clip on risers that have the same finish as originals. Bit expensive but I find 1” risers are great for me (5ft 7ins)

Had the bike MOT this week ,it didn’t have a complete winter hibernation this year , as I did get used periodically, however today done about 80 miles , Dover & back , the castle in the distance there , some 800 yrs old for you history buffs , was probably just round the corner from “ Craig’s of Dover “ original site ,new gold chain fitted as u can see , was bit of a shake down ride in prep for the Andover norton open day & Wharf inn NOC meet next month

Plan this morning was to stain the rear deck and mow the lawn:rolleyes:! A quick glance out the window at blue skies’n’fluffy white clouds (rare recently) - plan changed instantly to riding to my favourite coffee van (3 km away) via a 100km detour.

Van was closed. Didn’t matter.

‘Foibles smoibles’- this is an awesome machine!
