Is this the fly screen for a Dominator? Does it direct bolt on to a Commando? Beautiful bike!
It is the screen for the Dominator. It fits the current 'anniversary' Commandos as they have the Dominator front end.

... Already noticed a drop of oil when I came back from my first ride. It was not the breather pipe from what I can tell. Hopefully not a leaky gasket already. Any ideas where to start diagnosing the leak?
Maybe worth checking airbox for excessive oil and starter engine for leaks. If starter engine gasket leaks, it is oil from the gear box. In any case I recommend you to install a tranny vent. What colour have the oil drops?

Was fussy to start up again after sitting for 3 1/2 hours, but the forth punch did the trick. Starts up easily when the air is cold. Runs like a clock after she’s warm and handles like a dream. It’s the warm starts that confuse her - like after she’s cooled down, but not cold. It’s annoying and yet it’s so easy to forgive her.

Quoting myself to report on the cure ...

Holy shit - I am so ridiculous sometimes. Another 961 owner on FB reminded me of a suggestion I heard many times here on this forum. When the engine doesn't start happily on the first punch of the starter button, reset the fuel pump and/or ECU by turning off the ignition and back on again and try again. So far it always starts on the 2nd punch. I can't believe how effective this little procedure is. I should have tried this all last Fall and saved myself a lot of aggravation.

As, I think, it tells you to do in the owners handbook ...

Pretty sure quite a few of is posted that numerous times. Helps witj a high idle too.

To reset your idle. Turn off ignition. Turn on ignition and twist throttle a few times. Turn off ignition. Turn ignition on and press starter button.
Thanks to Richard again for the instruction.

I still find it odd that, at least in my case, this is a constant requirement. I did note all the references to this simple procedure, but expected it to be the exception, not the norm.

That said, I wil gladly accept it now since it does seem to work. I am no longer in fear of being stranded somewhere 100 miles away from home due to a start up issue.

It really isn't the norm. Happens to me rarely, but on occasion. Usually when theres a bunch of other bikers looking on so they can snicker. With the correct mapping and the Bosch coils, its basically a thing of the past. The most tries is two. Maybe one of twenty starts.

This is the biggest Pub in the UK( so they say) & happens to be on me doorstep in Ramsgate,Kent, just had an early evening non alcoholic jar with my eldest son ,he came armed with his Box Brownie Mk2 & snapped one off , bikes are actually welcome to park on the pavement ere to.

That's a cracking photo Richard! I don't remember Ramsgate looking so picturesque but it has been over 40 years since I last went.

And is this Kelly McGillis on the 961:rolleyes:?
It’s the leather ralphi ,I can tell ,thanks for compliment ,been mistaken for many things but Tom Cruises sort ain’t one of em & going by google images I just looked Er up, & she no longer a “ Top Fox” ,May be we should have a separate thread of pictures of women on a 961 ? ,purely for research & fashion conscious experts like us.
