What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Brilliant,
What was Norton thinking sticking it in that plastic prophylactic facing into the weather?
To absorb British rain forcing you to buy a new switch.
Anyways.. my new MK111 switch and console works fine and reliable using plenty of Dielectric grease to cleaned connections.
Put 2 3/4 " spanners to work on the rear iso's which were too tight for my likes. Backed of the Vernier adjuster not much and sprayed everything with silicone spray. Re-tightened up to 25 lbs. Started her up with clutch in and completely different vibes. Test ride tomorrow. Getting cold. Season closing.

They hate water and originally they had a flap that even with the key in it sort of stopped the water getting into the ignition lock but after time that flap would break off as mind did a few years after buying mine new.

Yes I remember the forward facing " flap " that you raised up and then inserted the little key . Of course the flap would stay a tad raised up as it rested on the key to let in any rain/moisture . Then the flap would break off and fall away from vibrations and the hinge part being plasticy material not intended to act as a hinge . Most Nortons I see lost the flap a long time ago.

Really nice !!

They gotta be up there on anyones short list of best lookers.

You‘re gonna be needing some new, much better, ear plugs tho me thinks…

I SAID….

I know blue one's are quicker, but red ones are so pretty :)

Already warned the old biddy next door that this one's louder, but as I helped (took over!) assembling her latest Ikea purchase I'm in credit with my brownie points.....

Thank you, prodigal P11 returns home after 21 years! Bought as a 'rolling restoration' from Baxter Cycle 34 years ago. Back where it belongs :)
Not familiar with Imgur...but had a little play with your photo..:)

Siphoned the gas out of the plastic tank after yesterday’s great ride.

Drove Norty downtown to visit Manse , O.N.O. pres. Gave him a cartoon to put into the Nomad newsletter. Darkness at 5 so drove north , home. Lost a seat knob on the way. Oh well.

Bummer! It bothers me that these knobs could loosen. There is a small hole right through the plain diameter, to insert a pin to prevent them unscrewing completely I assume. No pin in the knobs on mine.
I’ll add that job to the list methinks.

Manse got the new aftermarket type with the retainer pins . He noticed I had arrived with a missing seat knob. He then said the pins on the new ones are too small to be effective , I didn't inspect fully , but suspect so. There was some engraving on them , not O.E.M.

Replaced the seat knobs. Bigger grip aftermarket ones I had in storage. Plus wind blew off the cover. Put on new cover.
Tomorrow I drive it downtown to The Royal York Hotel .

Those big seat knobs make it easy to lose a seat as it makes it easy for some scumbag to just undo and take what don't belong to them as in my case back in 79, my seat and kick starter my bike was under my granny's house with the dreaded blown lay shaft bearing when they came in under darkness while I was out, to this day I never replaced those big knobs just use nuts done up tight so need a spanner to undo them.
I did end up finding the person who did steal it but proving it at the time as he was converting a interstate to a roadster at the time and had already sold the bike on before I found out who it was, I won't say no more but just to say I got payback many years later and let him know I knew it was him.

We don't have to worry too much about that stuff nowadays here in Central Toronto , Canada .
I think Australia was a Penal colony at first stages of English repression.
Pirates and all that.
And common thieves.
Nowadays I can not worry about who would mess with my Snorty.
Police tell me this is a super safe neighbourhood. Only compliments the past 13 years , even from occasional wandering boozed up losers / homeless types.
I work with Police and Community Watch.
