What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Took a 35 mile ride to my watering hole got a beverage to have the barmaid say "You smell like gas!" Yes I did!?!?!?! Have heard of the carb bowl screws coming loose but never had it happen to me. Chalk it it for a first, on the way home bike was running poorly. Gas it was running out the left carb bowl. Screw was gone! Made it home found a screw and all is well!

Took mine for a ride out to waimarama Beach about 25-30 min each way weather wasn't the greatest but mostly not raining , bike going pretty good , just getting a dead spot when I come off the throttle at 4-5000 , something else to to look at . Fine weather pic .

Gene,
Concours gave a tip to use some LocTite 222 on those carb screws along with the bowl drain. You might want to try that out as the only time I ever got stranded was when I lost the bowl drain plug.

Beautiful. I love riding on roads along the coast. Some of my best memories are riding the Big Sur highway in California.

Check your tire pressures . In this heat I had the same problem until putting in more air than called for . Avon Roadriders . Jigglings stopped . The air really does shrink or expand due to temperatures changing .
Well, it was a little more than tire pressure. My wheel was bent and my tires were getting on in years. I had a local shop true the wheel, and mounted a bridgestone on it. Rides smooth now.

Dropped the main bearings out of my Maney cases.....

What better to be doing in your workshop on a Sunday!
And yesterday I split the crank to clean inside!

There just isn't any more of it to strip, so the next task will have to be listed as part of the engine build!

Edit: New AN mains in the cases and inners on the crank....definitely on the rebuild cycle now....

went to look at a Roadster tank, having asked seller if it was metal or fibreglass. They thought it was metal, but it wasn’t!! so a short wasted trip. Very annoying that I gave them my phone number on my first message, but young people seem to keep messaging, which is not helpful in these sort of situations....

That's a fine looking wheel James. I'm looking to do the same with mine. Where did you get the wheel converted to 18" and did you use steel rims or alloy? Just wondering since I'm doing the same thing soon.

Finally got out for a ride today, great wx. Put 50 on the 69 Interceptor. It is really a 1950 bike. Came home and took out the
74 Norton. Huge difference. Yes it has more cc (820 v736) and it has been tuned a bit along with the TTI five speed. But it is
so smooth and so fast there is no comparison.

Its a Borrani WM4 18” that I got from Buchanans. Also have a 19” WM3 for the front. They put the assemblies together and shipped them in a bullet proof box. Great company to deal with.

A mate of mine who is an Enfield nut
He owns at least one of every Enfield ever made from a flying flee to an 1140 often tells me his interceptor would eat my commando
I've known him for 40 odd years and he's never had it running on the road to prove it

Gearbox cover back on after a loose clutch operating body lockring. Purchased the lockring tool and alignment tool from andover and corrected an upside down ratchet spring. Everything back together and has never been better. Btw Andover shipping to the U.S is insane. I’ve spent almost $100 usd in the last month just shipping.
