What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Have you bumped into @jan nelder yet? He is riding a 961.
we met this morning before Breakfast: billeted in adjacent chalet streets!
Meanwhile on todays ride to Vannes, fifty miles west, two of us nearly got there when friend’s 72 Commando Alton stator coils starting coming apart. We got nearly all the shrapnel out, but had stopped charging, so bought a spare battery for his homeward journey to Southampton and got back to base just now.

Quick update on my “Top Gear Challenge” of me riding “Old Shite” to Nordkapp. I spent an hour or two with an old army mate who now lives in Sweden riding some forest gravel trails. Oh, and shock horror, did an oil change using some Castrol XL 20/50! Now roughly 600 miles from, yes, “ticking” the Nordkapp box (scenic as well though).
Here’s a picture of my mates Triumph 500 Forest bike (complete with oil leak).

it was the rear rotor magnets that starting losing bits, it transpired. He now has a charged spare battery on board , which will easily see him to St Malo ferry and Southampton.

Had an absolute blast on the International NOC Rally. A total of 910 miles Arnie never missed a beat; I shlepped all the tools and fluids for nothing 🤣🤣🤣 Here are some photos:

Having rolled in at midnight without a hitch I’m parked here with chalet mate, Chris Exelby. Sadly he later suffered a total petrol deluge are a tank stud decided to part company but managed to bond it to make it home.
