My wife has ideas like that!........becomes very redundant !
Took mine off and plugged the hole.
Why was it unused?Drained the unused fuel out!!![]()
Because I went all the way to Gedinne and didn't complete a single lap......Why was it unused?
FWIW, I'm resurrecting one of my road Commandos. It had been in storage since I went to work abroad. Tried staring it last weekend, the same fuel that was in it when it went into storage in 2018 (only about 2 pints) , didn't bother draining the sump, took 5 kicks and it fired and settled down to a steady tickover. No drama, no blown seals and the earth is still on its axis
Good question !Question: where can I (legally) get rid of around 15 litres of crappy unleaded petrol without waiting till November 5th?
Because I went all the way to Gedinne and didn't complete a single lap......
It's a long story, but essentially the stent in my coronary artery that is supposed to open it up.....got blocked....of course I was completely unaware of this happening....until I got cooked by the sun for half an hour, then loaded inside a hot recovery van for a very long lap, and then had to push my bike back to the paddock from collecting where they dumped me still in tight unvented black leathers....so....after a short helicopter flight....Friday evening was spent having a nice cardio chap put new stent put inside the old one.
The engineer in me is a little concerned about this failure!
After 2 nights in ICU, 2 more in a hot cardio ward, I got to drive 600km home!
I probably need to write the whole thing up, or I will get lectured to look after myself (again, I already have been!!!).
FWIW, the petrol in my old MG which has been there a few years also, will start up, but won't pull the thing out of the garage! Drain and refill needed.

(My previous technique of putting a half litre at a time in a petrol car is redundant, due to no longer having an active petrol car, and my AJS uses so little fuel, and I ride it so little, that it would take about 5 years!)
Sunoco 102......could be considered cheating versus supermarket 95!Bugger... you old bugger
Actually, I took it for a blast down the road... pulled like a train. I guess sealing the cap/breather helped.. oh, and Sunoco 102 as well![]()
Pretty sure I got my bracket from RGM, mounted to a small M6 silentblock type bobin. Has worked well thus far.Started fitting side covers. Left side using Norvill attachment since I am not using my original Mk2a air box. If anyone knows a better way, please
View attachment 109471 let me know. Thanks.

On the other topic....a spot of irony.....
One issue I think contributed to overheating was being squeezed into tight black leathers. Even though I had been exercising for some months and feeling better for it, the waist measurement was having none of it and in fact in toning muscle I have gained weight....of course muscle weighs more than fat OK.....
The Belgians gave me another medication to add to my long list, it affects fluid retention, and subsequently I have shed 4 kilos in a week. Do I know that the weight loss is fluid?
Well, based on the number of daily visits I am paying, you could say I am pissing the weight away!
Ok, took a look, thank you. It looks stronger than what I have. I noticed your tail light/fender combo. I have the same tail light and tried fitting a Fastback rear fender, which looked really good, until I added the license plate, which hung below the fender tipPretty sure I got my bracket from RGM, mounted to a small M6 silentblock type bobin. Maney 920 & TTI transplant
After a rather protracted period of collecting the parts as funds allowed and going backwards and forwards with different ideas, I’m finally on a push to get this thing done. Details of the prep and the backwards and forwards thinking for this can be found here...www.accessnorton.com
Cut the other end .Ok, took a look, thank you. It looks stronger than what I have. I noticed your tail light/fender combo. Next, I will try cutting a used fender to see how that looks. Problem with cutting fender is they look better with the rolled metal on the tip.
Ok, then just drill new holes for mounting. I will take a look at that. Thanks.Cut the other end .
We shudda dunna swap !Ok, then just drill new holes for mounting. I will take a look at that. Thanks.
Remember that the front end is usually dimpled for clearance around where the oil lines connect with the tankOk, then just drill new holes for mounting. I will take a look at that. Thanks.
Another way is , if your mudguard is stainless , go see a sheet metal company , they might have a bead roller / Jenny, may be able to redo a cut edge. Not sure what you'll end up with so maybe practice on another , someone else may be able to advise .Ok, then just drill new holes for mounting. I will take a look at that. Thanks.
Thanks for the suggestion. My experimental fender arrived today, so looking forward to working on it. I have a friend who works in a hot rod fabrication shop and will ask him if he can do it. I am now thinking maybe I don’t need the rolled end as my CNW front fender does not have one.Another way is , if your mudguard is stainless , go see a sheet metal company , they might have a bead roller / Jenny, may be able to redo a cut edge.
