What Did You Do With Your Commando Today?

Finally got my MK3 project up and running, exactly a year from start to finish. Starts and runs really well, not had a chance to get a strobe on it but it can't be far off as it goes well. Done a 100 miles today and nothing broke/fell off so I'm very happy!

Hey Bilko,
I just noticed that your airbox appears much thinner than mine, and others who are still using the stock airbox. there appears to be so much more clearance in there compared to my setup with my stock airbox. Is the airbox a different setup on your electric start Commando? Or did you modify it to make it thinner? I'm just curious because I am looking at installing the cNw starter kit, at some point, and I understand the stock airbox has to go because there isn't room for it with the big starter motor that comes with the kit. I would like to keep the stock airbox if I can and the thinner one that I see here looks to me like it might accommodate. Maybe.

Bioko,
Bike looks great but I would put a strobe on it as soon as you can. I sometimes get a lot of difference after setting it with the light. You did a nice job with your motorcycle
Mike
I did try the Snap-on strobe I have but the mark was bouncing around and wouldn't settle. I've been reading threads where people have had a similar problem, so not sure if it's my light or the Tri-Spark/Crane coil causing it.

Hi Rob, yes it's the narrow version sold by RGM as LAB has shown. It gives plenty of room for the starter and power cable connection.

Then again, he’s probably thinking he’s got to ride back !!
Lol, he could sell it and get a train ticket.

My brother had a VW Camper that broke down every holiday. At the end of each holiday, he was always transported home by his breakdown recovery. The saving on fuel paid his annual subscription.... Just a thought for Mr ES2

Yesterday, ran the motor for the second time after rebuild with fresh main and big end bearings and strobed ignition timing.

Few bits to put a spanner on then start the trailer loading process, off to Gedinne next Wednesday for my first race meeting since 2019!

Anybody in the area wants to help it's very welcome. At very near 70 my wife has given up pushing motorcycles!

Showed it, not for trophies, but one of the most fun, invitational only (= no sheetboxes) show, which, has had many stars over the years. 1966 GT40, Hemi cars, Boss 429, and many, many more.
And..... the restaurants & bars are open. 😎

Nice cars . I'm driving the 76 up to Stouffville-Whitchurch tomorrow to put her into a Antique Classic car show . Plus I'm working there as a face painter for kids . So for me a Show and Pay .

If I'm not mistaken they are the mandatory bumber overriders enforced in the U.S. during the late 70's early 80's.
'73 was the inaugural year for 5mph front, 3 mph rear requirements.

65 Olds 442, my Uncle bought one new, 4.11 posi axle, it was a hard pulling beast

Met my Son in the morning, riding his Speed Triple, rode 2-1/2 hours on tiny roads to our NNENO meeting at the brew pub. (Northwood, NH) We had pizza & held meeting business.

I offered to lead a few interested parties on a ride over to Alton Bay , the Southern tip of Lake Winnepesaukee, using tiny roads. (a lot of 300 year old "cow paths" in New England)

...after a 1/2 hour break and two more iced teas we headed our separate ways toward home. My son was taking the express route home. I followed him for 15 miles, as we merged onto the multi lane expressway, the pace was, ahem, "elevated".
I made a choice to show him a wheel, bid goodbye, and take an exit to a parallel state highway, which is a 50mph pace. (I made this choice after hearing an occasional rubbing sound for the last 40 miles).
The next 30 miles, was a worsening noise, and 4th gear was least noisy,
Made it back home, under it's own power.
