Last couple weeks the snakes are on the move, some in turns I have to straighten up to cross or slip out, some I swing wide to let live, if not a copper tint to scales or a cottony white head of poisonous ones I aim for. This is plain old Black Snake that eat poisonous snakes but locals and even me have seen mating with water moccasains so some babies have venom. One of my first phase 3 handling lesions happened when wife caught a big one in duck coup and told to road trip it, but sac got left in rain so softened - so with sac in lap I forgotaboutit in the lush green spring time drawing my attention off path - to feel sharp hard grip on my L wrist, to look down for subconscious to react before conscious brain to first try a fling off failure to then take both hand off to pull it off to toss off successfully slicing me open - then instantly fighting a tank slapper 35 mph straight into a fence a few bike lenghts ahead on marbles and arrow headss but somehow did.

This is worth a close up look via taging the URL and +, I've never seen one this traced out to form semi coils, It was not bothered by me or car, only left when I petted it. I do try to get them to strike at me to test my reflexes and I usually win. Most flys beat me but not all.

Wes and I splash across creeks fairly often when not in flood stage. Right now rather low d/t no rain but the bottoms are still interesting-hairy to cross d/t large loose polished rocks or unstable gravel bars. So far I've not hit a hole to submerge engine but Wes has but got out before flooded Here i'm finished with errands so short side trip to visit 94 yr old aunt. Justt roared across 1st time splashing right out to road, then it occurred to me to try a movie. Plan was roll down start, as boot and peg wet/slippery, then carry on to make a splash but rear set peg gpt turned down to no foot support to stay on bike crossing at walking speed. Had to hang tail and just creep/slip across to return with some spirit. There was no straight path across w/o head size stones and still half that size in the couple of 'clear' path's diagonals. I know it don't look like nothing but on my real return back out -hit it at normal speed ~20 mph to hit two big rocks at once that lifted both ends at once to drop down on next rock heads so hard it bottomed forks shocks and rear tire on rim for a jolt up my butt spine to head. If you cross with some momentum do need feet on pegs so can lift legs to headlight level so they don't get soaked, I dried off on the rest of the way home. Next time will have Wes hold camera for me then trade off to video his splashing. I say WhOa as foot finds no peg. Rear kicked out just upon front hitting bank but not much so spun rear a bit to savor a bit more w/o hurting again.

More of the surface textures of every ride to get to civilized pavement. Cattle grates are common and good way I judge tire pressure vs jarring and listen for loose stuff not covered up by the grinding trashing Gravel sounds.

If the creek beds were this clear they be nil fun but on dry Gravel its plenty to upset hitting a slalom stone marker. Tire marks the ones someone else hit. This is a turn at nearest neighbor over a mile off by road but 1/2 mile by crow. He says someone flys around it rolling the big stones out of the surface so often he gave up clearing it. Hit one of these with any counter steering and slaps right down, hit with straight steering and locked bars only skips sideways with a judder then recovers, as long as not hitting another immediately. Got to always expect this stuff so can't go blindly around at ease or THE Gravel eats ya.

A level relaxing route on Race Track Rd.

Only one surprise gritty corner on Rock House Rd. so always ready for it. Came upon it on the inside. Only deepest is showing tan but lubed edge to edge.

Goat downed '00 SuVee is roadworthy tested on Race Track Rd. again. Some say SV650 is logical modern substitute for a Commando but never heard from anyone else with both to compare. SV has adj. rear shock & fork cartridge emulators so about as handy as a sport type can be off road, but not as secure footed as un-tamed factory Trixie. Up close SV seems so bulky and tall, plus feels heavier to move yet specs say 365 lb/70 hp.

Good Combats can pull as hard or harder to top end as SuVee, if ya ignore wear-tear hi rpm risk, but SuVee can plant power in leaned G's that upset the un-tamed Cdo's I've pressed. SuVee's a 'Boney' too expensive to produce welded tube frame, so gets noticed at stops and notes left on her by other SV riders to join them. Pashaw, valve train buzz gets through and stil a balloon tire corner cripple that will skip out or fork slap just when the going gets near tri-link-tamed Peel's cruise mode, so just fixing up for a friend to get him off 50 cc scooter. Don't check tag numbers yet please.

Ugh, been playing a bit hard on today's second ride to pavement, to see I've smeared the race rubber edge grooves out and chipped up the center section like a food grater. Did not press to any hints of upset, done did that plenty prior so never again. That's enough of wasting tires so will save em for city friend than won't be able to eat em up so fast.
Lasting impression is a dam handly modern that can more than keep up with any sports riders, up to 80-90 in sweepers but then easy to out sprint into opens. To get the Combat sense of passing acceleration requires at least two down shifts and 6-7000 rpm. Nothing much happens on WOT rolls at hwy speed in 6th. I get bored holding WOT to get to the ton in 6th and then too bored or running out of space to approach 110. Definite buzz though seat like any other solid mount, that only spinal cases like me may notice after time. Trixie definitely has an edge above 90 if not leaning past 45'. SuVee gets ~43 mpg in normal legal use, then low 30 mpg when kicking up heels.

Riding in fits and spurts, after last close call shock has faded. Here's short views of Labor Day weekend before making it to asphalt. Thank goodness we only have to do this every now and then d/t various things making us stop out the way or more often turning around to retrive a real made in England motorcycle component.

Just a short pass by Wes at standard rate, not too slow not too fast and no sudden moves.

Forgot something so turned around about here which made me see another video opportunity so with Wes shaking his head at my silly ness I asked him to ease off as best he could, which he did but then got tire in stable rut which I can't hold against him one little bit. Does feet down count as a four wheeler?

Got to terra firma and bike watering hole, to show off Trixie to a guy that kept saying, 'I love everything about the Commando" I told him he should get him one after puff balling him a bit. Then gave me his card, Bikes Blues BBQ Exc. Director of an October vent that's grown to 3-400,000 attendance.

Here's Wes's drum brake cable light switch hillbilly upgrade working a treat!

Best way to learn technique for getting underway smartly , . . .

Out a straight dirt / Gravel road , left C'do at the gate and wandered down the blokes drive to see if hes in .
Kilometer long , 2/3 down and the der Alstion gets up off the porch , quitely canters up the hill , and wraps
its jaws round the leg above the knee with the fang marks at the back. Stopping , the dog stops . i go back.

At the gate , give the dog a few random thoughts , and fire up the bike . At that , it quitely trots back up the hill .
Getting a bit bored by the time its got half way up , I have a meander round the Countryside with the eyes.
glanceing back at the drive , never take your eyes off . . . It lungeing through the Gate , full wellie . Attention
all hands , blip ,first , revs , and clutch out throttle on . Glanceing down the things jaws are about 12 inches off
my calf again , crazed like a Wolf . accelerateing fiercely .The dog that is , forces me to bring throttle way up
so the back ends fishtailing three times till ive got 50 and can afford another glance back . . .

Leaving out tire wearing out summer antics last duo trip to Texas LOP was aborted d/t mysterious intermitent stall outs of Wes's '71. We had a heck of a run ahead of cold front storm through the twistest parts for 100 miles before rain and grimlin hit. But how bad can it be breaking down in paradise with a pal in familiar range of home. Both of us almost got taken down out the blue on mud on last leg home.
Wes said he almost got off to walk it up and his driveway freaks me out every time.

Point trip took turn for the worse from here and back.

The last resting place like 2+ hr after Wes died about a mile above and coasted to wide spot on engine drag that wouldn't fire. Squealing tires of cycle to semi's entertained and prevented much a nap.
[webshots down]

One of the wierd Boyer phenomina that would come and go, till it just didn't a few time but finally shear boredom and wishful thinking tried one more time and Wes made it home like nothing had stopped us the times prior. Not before his wife PU arrived - just in case - we were so dead in water prior.

Tried to adapt a camera mount but didn't work out as usual first time around but may not get a second time so posting anyway.

Existing drive way and a ways beyond but camera flipped vertical on first bump. The rpm rises are mostly just noise as nil hook up till bike catches up or I let up.
Those with motion sickness proneness best not tag this one.

On the easy part of marbles and arrowheads. Camera swung out on first getty up but caught it for more direct rear view. Interesting peashooter reflection. Made it to tarmac in such gusty conditions didn't know i had rear flat till almost fully flat so stayed at 80 till level spot appeared then had a blast controlling the swaying drifts slightly crossed up. Not that big a trill compared to just making it to terra firma.

Same ride day out onto terra firma where rear leans rather than sways.

Snatching rides on partial grace days but ran out of Grace, again, on way back a couple days ago for THE Gritty Grime patina layers. Not very heavy as was still raining so most washed off. Reason for skid plate revealed if tagging view image then expanding for detail.

Getting cocky enough to commute and take joys rides afterwards when ever ain't raining much. Trix started cutting out today misfire jerky loud on let offs til I found loose Amal to nip up then all was fine again. Too bad the camera can't see the rays very well. Here' leaving the snakes from Lost Valley over the hump and onto the snakes into Kingston village. Can just make out the route on next rise.

I can understand getting a boner while riding but you take it to another level. Ah yes, like the fragrant Lilac, love is in the air.

Yesh man, with the brain blurring handle, there is some danger to run off the edge while looking at scenery here. In our village yesterday among all the bikes and cars we had a parked parade of 40's Chevy's done up in ZZ Top style, a fully accessorized '55 chevy in black and white, then a '57 in organe-red and a '60 Caddie in bright Pink. Every one of them were cars my family had while growing up to driving age. I can't make much a living here but am living it up on a Commando sharing the hi's.

Oh Oh Steve, looks like you have an admirer. Hopefully Trixie won't get too jealous.

By all rights I should be slobbering idiot or dead by now so just sharing my awe and joy on borrowed time. In a way I'm brain injured enough to relate to those movie plots where a day repeats endlessly nothing new or can't remember anything from yesterday so every day brand new faces and places. Just to give perspective none of my photo's get in calendars. Here's another photo at my drive way entrance that just opened up by power company but way overhead of what Trixie could even think about but is exactly what Peel is intended for to show off scaring me.

Trixie Pix

Holy erosion Batman, lets make some rutts.
I would certain have a hard time seeing that everyday and resisting its beckoning call.

Ugh, its a hickabilly favorite past time to find and conquer these power line cuts in their built up 4wds with beer cans and booze bottles being throw out by slope angle, G's forces and bounces, often at night so harder to ID if someone notices.

I think even Trixie could tackle this mild mostly stabliized surface with a knobby on rear but its only warm up practice for Peel which is really eyeballing the crazy rough and steep Gravel slopes the State leave in its road side quarries and one more reason she's got crash cage and double cross braced handle bars.

Anywho thanks for the uplifting mood and will try to get some photo's today of women curves and slopes on Trixie and skillfully avoid wife picking up on that littel perk up.
