When I realized Ms Peel was leading me about totally away
from anything really Norton I sought one I could order
everything out of the 'factory Good book'
Winter '05 won an intact ebay Combat for $3500 at an old river
side shop, a couple months before Katrina flood.
Key fob was military dog tag with Trixie scratched in it.

Last trip I did with my now late younger brother Dale.
Unloaded fueled oiled started right up after years
and everything operated adequately.
Rode er home timidly and next afternoon took a 20 mile
light cruise for gas top off and safe shake on my standard
commute in rural area. Heading home took extra
care at wide hwy intersections even staying away
from cars parked at apex holding closer to double
yellow eased to 30ish and began a slight lean
just to ride more in center of lane,
to suddenly be cocking my head at the sparks in front
of me that an instant later resolved as a Peashooter
sideways, HUH! then an instant later when road
wore into hammate bone through glove I realized
I'd crashed, jerk hand up and rolle a bit to watch
bike slide off to edge and stop. Only add on mirror scrapped.

3 wks later 8:30 dark hard freeze night on way home
on THE Gravel path at ~35 mph a deer leaped its
chest into RH headlight, bent deer in half as it knocked
bike sideways in air and my helmet T boned its
pelvis throwng my into ground to bounced once
int superman slide when bike hi sided onto my
LH knee swinging around to put foot behind mid
back. Continued to run but broken peg staked
my boot under bike and I couldn't reach key
and was so brain and neck and major joint fractured
I couldn't hold the kill button long enough to kill it.
Gas leaking on me, eventually screamed though
pain to key it off. Heart only quivered and couldn't
work lungs, almost passed out to choke or freeze
but deer died in 15 min in horrible sounds just
like I was making but I got up in 20 min.

Forks twisted, deer hair completely around R tire bead
and whole RH of bike gone or flattened.
Took a summer to recover both of us.

In fall of '06 on mild commute to work, Trixie siezed up.
Tear down revealed and Aluminum head gasket intruded
into the old oil slotted pistons rubbing them till one let go.
Ugh,

Used Peels hi rev'd but intact pistons and barrel
to get back on road by following spring. Still
on ring break in use, going 50 in low 3000 rpm
looking at fields of flower = heard slight tinkle
sounds for a second then rear tire locked up.
Tear down revealed a re-used rod bolt had let
go. I've all on hand to fix her back this summer
and risk next set back in joy.
