Another sleepless night, and a little time on the lathe.
Oil pressure gauge mounting.

Oil pressure gauge mounting.

Oil pressure gauge mounting.

Then when I installed it I ran into a problem

I ordered new stock and a slight redesign and version 2.0 will be ready to try. Still awaiting banjo fittings to arrive from HK.

Huh, i'm beging to think this custom stuff takes some double takes to get right now and then. Hope it registers as expected too.

There is always a learning curve. I'm sure a finite analysis in a CAD program would have prevented this, but I missed out learning CAD by a few years. So good old trial and error it is! Plus I uses stock and tooling on hand, the Tap and Die I had was too small. I ordered some larger ones to make the broken area thicker and stronger.

not sure but, i think low oil pressure is very rare.i would think that in the vast majority of the cases, it's either good or zero.

I think that "zero" reading is the one to be on alert for.

I notice the indicator light lenses in your headlight are not stock. Any idea where they came from?

I'm going to start a thread today on how I wired the bike and products used. So far I am pleased with the results.

My aluminum showed up today, so i'll machine up version 2.0 tonight and hopefully install it tomorrow. My fittings are in NY right now, so I shroud have them this week.

Quite similar to old britts design.
With the exception of the polished aluminum block.

Yes, but mine will cost about $50 versus $250+. My budget does not allow for expensive things. I have to make it if I want it. Plus there is alot of work in machining that block.

I very much like the way it is. I also think it looks better without the block. You make cool stuff. I put one on my 750 years ago when George from HPI gave me one of the adapters he made but I never had a good mount for the Gage, my current 850 came with a Gage in a make shift mount & I need to change it. I want to make one similar to the Prod races used.

I started to make up a mount that used the handlebar clamps when I had clipons. Now that bike has RGM yokes with no mounts. So I never continued with it.

Not so in my case...

1/4 of the normal value. Still puts oil up to the head, but definitely a problem.

Possible worn our rod bearings... will see what the bottom end shows.

Cheers,

Version 2.0 machined and installed. Much better this time. Still waiting for end fittings so I can build up the line.

And with a mockup bolt and line just for reference.

My oil banjo fittings arrived. Mad up the line and installed it. I put new one piece SS rocker spindle covers on and installed the oil gauge. Rolled the bike int the driveway,
Started second kick. Not a drop of oil from the spindle covers or the oil gauge system. The gauge works really well. I am very happy with the outcome.

G'Day Brent, version #2 looks good as a bit stronger. Wondering if its sitting in rubber to help further reduce vibes and extend parts life? Another thought is, I too have the 60 lb pressure gauge and wonder what its prospects are if the oil pressure on cold start up rises to 80 odd lb (as read here some where) ?
foxy

I have an o-ring on the top and bottom of the stem for a little cushion. The liquid filled gauge takes the vibes very we'll. Completely un noticeable. I had 30 psi on cold startup and 40 at 4000 rpm. It went down to 25 at 1000 rpm hot idle. I think all is well with my pump and pressure regulator so the 60 psi max should not be an issue. I wont know until I start riding it. I have a 100 psi gauge on hand if I need it.
