Norton 961 Alloy Tank

I can certainly vouch for Brent's work...he was the one who painted my Factory alloy tank. The tank and the Norton decals were sent directly to Brent from the Factory by Rob Jameson. The pinstriping is all Brent's handiwork!
How did you crack your air box?

Saw this '55 Domi and thought inspiration if you can't decide to paint or polish.
Norton 961 Alloy Tank

Hello Clive , Are you going to get a TAB tank ?
Always expected to have to get an alloy tank but I am very fussy about details the bottom lip could be a bit more rounded for my liking and kind of like current modern filler cap. Monza looks good on my Morgan though… Have a couple of projects on the go at present may even make a visit. Prices are excellent.

That looks like a nice tank. You guys should also check that the new tank threaded holes for the fuel pump flange are long enough for the original bolts, my aluminum tank weren’t long enough. Got my aluminum tank from new Norton in early 2021, paid for in Aug 2020 for 800 for tank, 35 for screw cap and 4 for cap gasket, funds in pounds.

Pictures show they mounted the fuel pump.

I’m also loving the look of a painted tank section, inside the bounds of the current pinstripe - as shown on this beautiful Trumpet. Left in original black and gold. Very classy IMO. More thought required for the tail section. Definitely going to keep hold of the original tank though.

Just my opinion, but personally I think your Norton would look a bit shit with Triumph on the tank…

I'm not a fan of painting an inset on to alloy tanks per se.
However this type of black inset area with gold stripe border for a black n' gold Norton I think is a very pleasing finish for a alloy tank.

Would work beautifully with the black’n’gold single seat setup. Leave the gold pinstripes and everything internal to it the same, with the rest in polished ally. Would look ‘the dogs’ in my opinion! If I can ever get my hands on a single seat unit that is.

And whilst we are on aesthetics, although a lover of the longs, I really like these shorter pipes that look both traditional and finished!! Anybody know where these may have come from? Looks like there may be manufacturers details on top of the cone, so may not be custom made.

For anyone in the U.S. wanting to paint their tank, have a look here..

very highly regarded.
Thanks both Jon and Tony. Haven't received a reply from my enquity form I sent last week. Maybe I'm too impatiently excited. Also, this is a new sensation for us 961 owners so they could possibly get backed up. Loved reading their website and history. I'm totally psyched and hope to get this by the summer.

And Brent probably sprayed the logo‘s. I know he has on other jobs.
