Norton 961 Alternate parts list.

🤣
NOT Running like shit, now on my way back it was much much better. Just a little bit jumpy in the low RPM... I can live with that for now.

BUT is it ok or it CAN DAMAGE THE ENGINE?
If it can damage the engine then I need to take them off right now.

Gin File you mean the software?
I also been told that the "cable drivers" are needed, What are these drivers?

Thanks Stu!
You probably have a lean enough condition now with the Shorties that it's having an effect on the the combustion. As was said previously, the replacement maps from Norton are not that great, you can probably find one that will resolve your issues. Of course, you'll need the cable and related stuff to do the remap.
I feel for you, having to deal with the OMEX situation.
Hope you get the problem fixed soon.

P.S. I had to try 3 different Norton maps before I found one that worked for me. But that was after decatting. Shouldn't be too bad if you're just changing the silencers. Most of the restriction is in the cats.

Thanks BT.
For now I just replaced the long ones to the short ones, the sound is amazing and actually the bike ride ok.
Of course I also want to put on the decat but can’t do it right now because no cable and no driver….
When I will have the cable and the driver I will not use Norton maps for remap the exhaust as everyone tells me they are all shit! I will take the bike to the Dyno and the Dyno master will tune the bike for the new exhaust system and will tune all the bike systems to work more correctly, efficiently and much healthier than stock.
(All this only if it will be possible to connect to the bike ECU on the Dyno like any other motorcycles…)

The other route you can take is to install a Dynojet PCV and have the dyno technician tune the fuel maps this way . Most dyno shops can tune the Dynojet .

Borrowed from FB (credit Norton Guzzi) - replacement billet oil catch reservoir. Fitted to a 961 Street by SB - it’s only a matter of time before Stu makes the New Years honours list!!

Should fit the 961 of course. Nice little addition if those small details bother you. Personally I swear a little (rhymes with ‘clucking bell’), every time I have to leverage the little plastic one back into its little plastic zip tie holder on my very expensive 961! Gonna order one, cos I can🙃!

@Stephen_Spencer is Norton Guzzi the guy with the bike that's heaps cleaner than yours?

Hello again , Do you actually need this ? I thought you had very little oil in your airbox ? I was able to add a 4OZ Nalgene oil catch without any mods and you can't see it from the side . Fits right in like a glove and do you think that futsy aluminum oil catch is going to be any easier to work with ? Did you ever get around to installing the 17T front sprocket ?

I took out the canister, the oil catch bottle and everything that is connected to the air box and throw them away. My air box is now clean and shiny from the inside and will stay like that forever…
That is the right thing to do.

Where is you IAC getting air ? Or where is your crankcase breather going to ?

@cliffa is it possible to start another alternate parts thread and get rid of this one? It has gotten off track.

or rename this one alternate part discussion forum and make new list

Hey Tony,

I still get a little oil passing to the catch bottle. 4 or 5 rides of 200km-ish and it would be half full. Possibly cos the dealership keeps slightly overfilling it during service. I will probably just stick with the current setup. It was just good to see an aftermarket supplier providing a component, however small, for the Norton.

Didn’t fit the 17t yet. I’m really enjoying the bike as it is currently. To be honest I’ve just had the bike serviced and new tyres fitted so that would have been the perfect opportunity, but I didn’t even give it a thought. I’ll fit it in the future. The lads on the FB site are having another run of 17t’s manufactured in the UK. Should be easy enough to get one in the future. Still have slight reservations about the additional stress on an already quite fragile bike - probably unwarranted.

Do we have a source or alternate for the stem nut ?
Preferably with a hole in the center but not a deal breaker as I'll drill one out anyway
