Got two new coils and a new Pazon ignition system. Got them all wired up but no sparks!!. Got a live feed to the white wire (positive earth system on my mark 3 Commando) and the coils are earthed.

When I run the voltmeter over the connections I get 14v on the white wire and each of the connections on the coils seem to be earthed. The connections are correct on the coils as they were all marked +ve or -ve when I was building the bike up.

I have checked all the wiring as the bike has been completely rewired and cannot find a fault anywhere.

So much for me getting the bike up and running this weekend!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds OK but have you gone thru the Pazon checklist? Measure the resistance of the pickup coils. I had a new one from them that went open circuit after 15 mins. They have had a few issues with parts built in their NZ factory. I think there was an entry on here or another site where someone had to reverse the pickup leads to get it working! Good luck.

The Pazon in common with the Boyer goes to sleep after a few seconds after the ignition being switched on, it will not come awake until it senses the crank is doing 200rpm or more. For this to happen it needs to get 2 pulses from the magnets behind the stator plate ie 720 degress of movement. So to get sparks you need to be kicking the bike over as per a proper kick or alternatively you can disconnect the 2 wires from the stator and touch then together and release.

I disconnected the two wires from the backplate and touched them together and not loads of sparks. I put the wires back in the back plate and kicked it over and got the occasional spark about every 3 to 6 kicks. Took the wires out of back plate again and still got loads of sparks. Put the wires back in and got no sparks when kicking over.

Not sure if it could be a backplate problem.

I would check the magnet strength on the rotor, you should be able to check this by touching both magnets with a screwdriver, it should stay stuck to the screwdriver as you lift it. Also look for the gap between the magnets and the 2 pips on the back of the stator, not sure if there is a spec I had trouble on this on a B44 fitted with a B50MX cam as the B50 cam is 1/8" shorter and this opened the gap reducing the effect of the magnets.

The fault was in the Chinese made battery. It seems to have died. Bought a Yuasa and got sparks straight away. started bike up and crankcase split!! That's on another topic :-(
