Researching mufflers and stumbled on the group. Thank you for the information on the EPCO stainless, just got a pair off Ebay. Aquired a 73 Roadster 750, 2 prev owners with 6600 org miles that had been sitting since 87 a few months ago. I have accumulated probably 80% of the parts needed and I am in the intial stages of a full restore. Tank and covers are currently out for paint, returning to Black/Gold, frame going to powdercoat soon.

Here are a couple pics of where I'm starting (have org carbs and more in boxes). Am looking forward to reading the various threads and absorbing as much of the valuable information you have shared as possible. Will be attending the annual Battle of the Britts tomorrow in Orchard Lake, Mi for more do's and don'ts.

Hope to be riding in the spring.

Yup, it's a Norton...ain't they just beautiful?

Welcome to the forum. You have stumbled on to a good resource, enjoy and keep us posted on progress.

welcome! i'm new here too and there is a serious wealth of knowledge on this forum. since my recent obsession with these bikes, i've found answers to every question i've had on here.

Outstanding, neighbor, from over here in GR.

Alway proud to have a restorer come on board.

Speaking for myself, and others I am sure, we all hope you will be documenting your project and share as you go.

Please tell us more of your history with Nortons and Motorcycles in general. It appears you have the picture posting process down pat to shooshdave's delight (and most others). This may be more than you wish to contribute, but trust me when I say that anything you choose to share will be returned 10 fold, in other word probably more than you bargained for.

Welcome,
Peter

Peter,

I'm over in Clarkston. Am blown away by the feeling or comradery already. Will definately be sharing my progress. Been riding since I was 10, on the road since 16. Spent many winters rebuilding basket case Harleys and Indians with Dad in the 60's. Many miles on a Lowrider, trips to the Rockies, Keys, Smokies etc. This is my first British bike. So much more desirable than HD, and even Triumph IMHO.

Gonna post a new question, need feedback before the show/swap tomorrow. I need rims!

Dave

It's gonna happen, summer is almost over and with it comes all those hours that were being spent on the yard, car shows, wasted time with the in-laws.

Think the Burgandy is quite classy , & likely Original & relatively rare , check under the tunnel etc where its unoxidised .
A lot of bits that can be renovated , like the seat cover , save a buck and look real cool . V low milage machine .
( thats GREEN with Envey ! )

Shes only original Once .

Make haste slowly . looks like youll neeed a can or two of C.R.C. to soak of a few nuts'n'bolts .

& a few pommy spanners / sockets . :P

Thanks guys, I am now seriously considering changing plans and going with the original burgandy/silver. The tank is sealed and along with the steel covers prepped but not yet painted. I bought the british Norton tank decals in gold but could eat those. Maybe have the logo painted in silver rather than they vinyl with many clear coats. Any thoughts?

First, Greetings and welcome!! This is indeed a great forum and group of people. Paint wise, if you can, have the logo stenciled in paint versus clear coating over decals. Do a forum search for Paint work by Brent in Vermont. Truely amazing quality for very reasonable prices.
