The probelm from distorted carb bodies is usually from installation, not wear. The carb body easily distorts when tightened to the manifold when done without the carb top on.

The chrome slide will not do anything for this. The chrome slide will help with the metal to metal contact. This will help with the galling that occurs with the pot metal slide.

Chrome carburetor slides reduce slide wear as well as carburetor wear. The smooth chrome slide tends to glide over the pot metal surface of the carburetor body with minimal wear. In contrast, the OEM pot metal slides tend to wear rapidly in the pot metal carburetor body. This is because the slide and body are made from the same “gummy” material, which tend to stick and tear when moving against each other under pressure. Chrome moving against pot metal tends to slip and slide instead of tear, which extends the life of both wear surfaces.
