Hello all, I'm yet another stricken by the allure of the Commando. I'm a British car/bike enthusiast and have owned/restored over twenty cars and bikes. Sadly, I've only owned a Norton Commando "parts bike" and am dying to restore one. I hope to be in the market by Autumn. Here's my long-gone '73 Commando 850 Roadster:

Shoot, I've seen bikes worse than that, that started on the 3rd kick and went cross-country on 3 gallons of gas and 6 quarts of oil.

hee hee

Welcome.

Something about that bike says I wanna live PLEASE let me live. You have been had by the NORTON gods. I have three, Good on you. Phil

I'm still kicking myself! That was 15 years ago. I was young and stupid. I've since put together projects from less. Live and learn. :(

Please Norton Gods, give me another chance!

Too bad I just sold pretty much all my remaining Norton spares int he form of a rolling basket case. I think I have a mismatched pair of wheels and some stray bits like a set of Z plates and mix-n-match forks...

Not to worry, there are surely hundreds of basket cases out there, you just need to LOOK.

Hmmmmmm....

Looking at that photo some more, is that one of those mysterious "lipped front" gas tanks?

I assume you mean the front seam. It seems I have one. An early 850 and I guess I never gave it much thought.
