Huh, interesting I'd looked into Li batteries but found they needed special charging method than lead chemistry so didn't think it'd work on motorcycles. Bigger that what I want to install in a light special but its is light enough hmm. Will ask them about the charging issue but seems its been licked, unless misleading up somehow.
Here's a long read on Li charging issues that still make my wonder about this battery in bikes.

I use one of the four-cell models from these guys (guy, really): http://mavirykdesign.com/

Weighs less than a pound, takes up about the space of two C-batteries, and has worked just fine for me so far.

I don't bother charging as loss from sitting is supposed to be less than 2% PER YEAR.

Good point, I tend to forget the Commando came in a wrong-side shift model with an electric leg.

An eight-cell would probably do ya though.

BrianK, how long have you used the battery? Do they give a projected lifespan? Note: I am referring to the battery, not Hobot.

Some of the (Kick start) Triumph guy's have been using 5ah alarm batteries. I know of one that's been used
more than 2 years now without a hitch. Though they ain't anywhere near that small  they're smaller
than regular lead acid. The best bit, is that they only cost about $15.

I've only had mine 7 or 8 months. Can't offer any longevity information yet. Google it if you're interested, bet there's some info out there.

Peel got by fine on 1.2 ah alarm battery that could be slipped in back pocket to carry to charger if lights left on or such and no easy roll off starting available.
Peel did not sit around at very low rpm much, but have in rain day city traffic so so it'd die if let to idle and not fire start is boyer. Had to shut lights off and rev a bit to charge up for next start while still in city. Most Alarm batts are sealed gel cells. Fiber matt type was my next pick until reading success and sale pitch to put in motorcycles. A two cell might do what Peel needs to start easy.

I'm glad to see Li ok in real world motorcycle as the charging issues had me too pensive to attempt as Li batteries are famous for melt downs to fires in lap tops.
