I heard via Pete Lovell that Les passed away on Saturday. I know that he wasn’t everyone’s “cup of tea” but personally I never had a problem with any dealings with him and he was especially helpful with my Dominator rebuild. I never had a bad bit of advice from Les even though sometimes it was advice I didn’t want to hear.
RIP Les.

Yes, as you say he was a character who attracted varying feedback.

I’m like you though, personally always had both good service and advice from him / them.

RIP Les and condolences to his family.

Rest In Peace fellow motorcycle enthusiast.
My dealings were always professional & trouble free.
He was passionate about bikes.
Godspeed.

I have just today received a mail from Norvil containing the news of Les' passing together with an obituary. I always had cordial chats with Les and the service I received from the company was efficient and rapid, this is important to me as I am based in Hong Kong and many companies don't want to bother with sending parts to places that they are unfamiliar with. R.I.P. Les.

I was saddened receiving the news of Les' passing. Having dealth with Les and Norvil M/C over the past 25 years, including a chassis rebuild, I was mostly satisfied with the service provided.
Les was certainly a very knowledgeable man in all things Norton, and probably in locomotives, which were his other passion (he owned at least one diesel electric locomotive).

I trust his life's achievements are in good hands and that he departed proudly.

RIP Les, and condolences to his family.

I was once working on a 650SS that had three problems caused by a previous owner. I wrote for help as the problems were related to Norvil products. Les wrote an email to someone on his staff and told them what to ship me and Cc'ed me. He attached the instructions for each product, so I knew how they were supposed to be installed. He charged me nothing.

So, my only interaction with him was much better than should be expected and I obviously have only a good feeling about him. I told him before and again now, thank you.

Can anyone help with the t-shirt slogan please?

Les Emery, Norvil.
