Has any yet to fit Kenny Cummings' rearsets on a Commando frame? If so can you post some pictures to give me an idea how to approach it?

I see there were no responses to the original question.
I would like to ask the same question now to see if anyone has input or close up pics of an install.
Thinking of installing a set on the Grey Ghost (XBSKT II) but don't want to have to repair the painted frame. The web page is a bit confusing as to what is required to mount them.
I don't want to bother Kenny if someone has some input.
Any help appreciated.

I don't think Kenny would be bothered at all. He's a really nice guy. If I was selling these I would prefer the questions be directed to me rather than have you get a bunch of misinformation. (Not that that would happen.. )

I recently sent him an email and he did not get back to me so I figure he is busy. I wanted to get some input from folks that have installed them anyway. I will definitely call him if I make no headway but just now in research mode.

I think he was racing in New Jersey last wknd so he's probably just getting back to NYC Norton stuff.

I agree wait for Kenny, he is selling them, and will appreciate your interest and may have already put them on a Commando.

But I reckon the first thing Kenny will do is ask you what your specific application is, meaning, will you have a kick start on your bike? If so the first issue is the need for a folding peg and a way to clear the kick start with the lever. The much less attractive older style 'John Tickle' or 'Unity Equipe' 60s and 70s rearsets are shaped the way they are for a reason. Typically a bent steel rod is run over the top of the kickstart where it turns down and the toe peg is welded on.

If you never had to fold the foot peg up and down on a daily basis you may not realise how much hassle that might be, but there are plenty of Featherbed and Commando Cafe racers and Commando Production Racers out there. Look at pictures! That part is fun and very easy 8)

Not a daily rider but a weekend warrior.
Folding a peg to start not a huge deal for me but mostly wondering about the process of installing on a painted chassis.
I wonder if they can be mounted to the original Z brackets to avoid any needed repair to the frame that might not look as good as I want.
I'll look for some pics and that was part of my original question. Anyone have pics of Kenny's rear sets installed? I can find no closeups so far including NYC Norton's website. Nice pics of the product but none of them installed.

Have a great day.

Spot on, Mr. Snorton.

Sorry Jeff, I've been away racing for a few days, but I'm back at my desk. I replied to your email this morning.

NYC Norton rearsets are not a straight bolt-on to a Commando (yet). They were designed for race bikes - Featherbed and Seeley - to give a good variety of positioning options using the adjustable arm while keeping the pegs tight for ground clearance. We've sold them to many Commando owners, but they've had to adapt them to their Z-plates themselves.

We are currently and very actively working towards a complete bolt-on Commando kit for street bikes. The biggest issue here is the LH side where the levers require brake stops and cable stays, as well as a larger offset to clear the wide Commando primary cover. Then of course there's the kickstart side. A folding peg can get us part of the way there, but the toe peg is also in the way. A more elegant solution is in the works.

The complete kit is in the works that will bolt directly on to our Commandos, but it's not ready for prime-time yet. Soon. Soon.

Can't wait to see them Kenny, I'm not a racer & have no "real" need for stuff of this quality but I still wan't it & go to your site & drool over everything... You definately know how to live well!!! Wish I had known about NYC when I was in New York so maybe I could have visited.. Glenn.

I'm on a '74 Interstate, but, after attaching the European bars, I'm starting to get tired of having my knees in my chest. Rearsets would be great! I put up with an Ossa trials bike that necessitated a spring to hold the footped up for starting, and it wasn't a huge inconvenience. Any rough sketches we could see? Thanks, Nathan
