They are either dumb or doing dumb things to maximise attention. I believe Hipsters is the word.
Who would have sold a Holy Grail of a bike to such guys?
Somebody do this bike a favor and buy it away from these clowns.

Well, I think enough of us have commented on the video about how ignorant he is. I'll decline his automated reply to DM them and receive some gift.
Nice that it actually had a Roadster tank. Amusing that the left fork leg was reversed in the crate. Looked to be a unicorn until you see the caliper has the end plug inward. Moron takes it for a ride with just a rear brake.
Now it's just a used MKIII with a soft cam and layshaft bearing waiting to fail.....

It doesn't seem to matter, I don't see the choke cable engaged to the lever in the ride section of the video. Still, a moron for taking it out without the front brake.

Yes, although the choke lever is in the off position I hadn't noticed the cable isn't attached so very likely the chokes would have been 'on'!
 
Those "tuned in macho slick and cool YouTube hip biker dudes" are a bunch of idiots. Stepping on nails (staged for poor attempt at humor), the so-cool attitudes, the sunglasses, (why?) the beards, its all laughable amateurish "Vice Grip Garage" TV show bullshit.
Every piece of cardboard they cut and and every metal strap they take the pliers to is devaluing that motorcycle.
They think a few thousand more views on YT is going to put them into some "serious" royalty/view earnings when they are pissing value away every time they pick up a tool!
Watching that really does make me ache...and its not even my bike. That would have attracted ten times more attention (and money) at a Bike Week display in the shipping box instead of the backwoods clown show they put on.

One thought kept coming to mind concerning that clusterf#*k of a video...

I would have un-crated it, but I wouldn't have paid any where near 24K.

As LAB indicated, and made me laugh as I watched this "adventure" it is like paying zillions of dollars for a bottle of rare wine, but once you open the wine its value defaults to the bottle...

Knew this would be a travesty once I saw it was Bikes&Beards....

Those couple of sacks pulled out of box they referred to as rodent repellent....most likely desiccant to keep things dry inside. The way the big guy was swinging that ballpeen around near the tank sent shivers up my spine. Plus using an electric driver to remove the handlebar mount bolts and cresent wrenches on other fasteners.

I'd say value dropped a good 30-40% within the first few minutes of this video.
 
yes, these yahoos spent $10,00 in value for a cheesy video. Maybe they are wealthy and don't give a crap?
Certain politicians do the same thing. Outrageous sells. Sadly, there are people in the world that like this type
of crap.

They have over a million subscribers so the YouTube revenue stream should be pretty spicy for them.

My guess is that someone else bought it, and allowed these donut-eaters to film their stchick.

To understand why they did the unboxing, and why it was a really smart thing to do, you need to look at the payments they get from YouTube.

They previously unboxed a 40 year old Honda, that YouTube video has made them $58,100 so far. They unboxed the most expensive street legal bike on Amazon, that video made them $53,900. Incidentally, that bike cost them $2,495. They unboxed a $3,500 dirt bike, and that video has made them $105,000.

After just 2 days up on YouTube, the Norton unboxing has made them almost $3,000, so they are making around $1,500 per day, and money will flow in for as long as people keep watching at this level. So whatever they lost in the value of the bike will be recovered in the first week up on YouTube. By the end of the month, YouTube will have bought them the bike and paid them for their time. Its a good business to be in right now.

I found a Youtube video from Bullpen Cycles a couple of days ago, regarding not one, but TWO, yes TWO OCR 1000s they have aquired. The careful & thoughtful approach of that bloke is nice to see in comparison to the neanderthals in the Commando video. The OCR has been a fascination of mine since I first saw one on the cover of the long defunct Motorcycling Weekly newspaper in about '77/'78. Tried to buy one once at auction but was massively out bid.

Makes perfect sense...always follow the money.
They could have made a whole lot more.

Consider the earnings a YouTube video crate opening during Bike Week with a bit of promotion prior to opening, or a YT video promoting a raffle sell-off of the "box" during Bike Week.
So many ways to generate a more impressive sum that would, IMHO, far exceed the viewer totals/earnings they achieved by tearing open the mystery box in some buddies driveway.
 
It is such a shame that a piece of history like that just becomes a means to turn a few bucks. That is what is missing in these apes, the appreciation of what they have as something rare. With every commando still in the world today, there will come a day when they become just scrap metal and the breed takes one more step closer to extinction. No need to carelessly hurry that process.
 
jeeesh, it’s entertainment not a Mick Hemmings video. And whatever they do to it is better than letting it rot in a box
