Yes you hold the tickler down until you see fuel. You don't pump.

I checked the float heights before I fitted them and the were both 40 thou below the top the float bowl. Mine tickles quickly on both sides now, it was just the initial tickle that was slow. I turn both fuel taps on pre tickle then once flooded turn reserve off, seems to help but it may well be physiological...FWIW, you may find that one carb will "tickle" well and the other will not. As noted, if that's the case, some tickler adjustment may be needed or float level in the poor tickler might be too low.
I had that on my original set of Amal's - right carb would tickle/drip very quickly while the left took 10-15 seconds to do the same thing. On my new set of Amal premiers it was the opposite - left tickled immediately, right took around 10-15 seconds with float levels identical.
I agree that the fuel tap has an influence.

Ok, the standard AMAL 932 pair is about 100 bucks less than the "premier". The premier differences are "precision engineered idle circuit", "ethonol resistent stay-up float" and "forged alloy anodized slide". Are they worth the extra 100 bucks?
Why? Say the buyer is in his mid to late 60s.
Wassell Evolution have the same spec as Premiers, share interchangeable parts and are $50-80 less per pair I believe.
Let us hear how they go for you. I think Madass has used them (from some old obscure post I recall reading). Thanks, they are over 125 USD less than the Amal premier equivalent for a pair. I just ordered a pair. Read the reviews and they all agree that the Wassells have all the improvements/features of the Amal premiers.
The numbers on the Mk3 original Amal carbs are 932 L34 and 932 R33.
Trying to gather all the Amal Premier specs to enable ordering new Amal for a Mk3 Interstate.
Main jets would be 260.
Anything not correct or left out?
Float setting to be .060" below float bowl gasket surface.
Is a 260 main jet correct?
Seems rather large to one more used to Trumpet twins...
