I have the same floats and are unhappy with them , as I see in your photo that where the tickler plungers contact the float upper the wear is starting to occur through the black plastic . Mine are worse for tickler contact point area wear .
No cracks thank gawd , I ride a lot too .
There were some early stay-ups that were poorly stamped with sharp , not curved edges to the metal too .
I filed the tips to be rounder , as they should be .
A better word for these early ones would have been " Hang -Up floats " .
Hi concours,
I am wondering it you have the "alloy bodied "Amals or the older zinc models that were the original Premiers? That float needle you have is very worn. I have had long range original Amal's that were sleeved by Bruce Chessell here in Ontario and put many miles on them. More than you have on yours. The Bronze float needle jets did fair better than yours. Thou they are slightly worn. I have the stay up floats and got the dimple mark from the tickler plunger but have not seen the split that your show in your pictures. Very Curious?
