I don't want to buy new shocks, I want new springs, and of a different rate.

When I search, all I get is a bunch of sellers of complete damper/spring units and rarely do they even say what the spring rate is. If you're lucky they'll tell you the length and the bushing eye diameter. They all want to keep you captive and ignorant, selling only by make model and year, rarely by specifications. Maybe that last comment is unfair since so many of their customers don't want to go deeper than that.

Anyway, I want some stiffer springs for the still serviceable stock Girlings on the T140 I recently acquired and I don't need new Girling knock offs or new overpriced Hagons or Ikons. Yes, all of those are offered with springs of usually unstated poundage - probably 100.

So, where can I buy shock springs by length, inside diameter, twist, and pounds/inch?

Maybe check the shock makers and ask them .... or wait and someone here will know no doubt ....

Thanks L.A.B., but Hagon’s site as far as my effort revealed makes little effort to sell springs for shocks. A search there for “springs” produces pages of shocks with springs and not springs alone; I went to the 10th page produced by that search and still found nothing but shocks with springs.

Pretty much any city has a spring manufacturer.

Look it up in your local business directory.

In my experience most shock makers are happy to sell you different spring rates too. Usually the springs are colour coded so you can look up rates in their online catalog

Ikon have a springs section in their catalog

https://www.ikonsuspension.com.au/

If you dig down they have technical diagrams with all sizes and specs

I guess that’s what you get if you go over priced.

By the way don’t enquire about works performance shocks if you think Ikons are expensive

Not so sure Race Tech has what you need.
You might try Progressive.

Thank you Johnm,. Ikon does indeed offer springs and their precise specifications but only for their own shocks

RaceTech does not. I did teceive a gracious return call from Matthew Wiley of RaceTech explaining that they do not offer what we need and referring me to Brit bike suppliers. I did not call England to reach Hagon.

Steve, I’ll call Phil now that it’s past 10 am and he’s now open for biz. Edit - spoke to Phil. He’s on it

Stock springs are 126 lb which seems high but I think it is because the shocks are not vertical on a Commando.

Thanks guys, I ordered a pair of straight 130# springs from Phil @ Fair Spares which fit Girlings. From Ikon as they apparently offer shocks dimensionally similar to Girlings
