I would like to know who made the Double wound Dual rate springs that were sometimes supplied with the old Girling rear shocks
Was it ….. Terry’s :?:

The reason I ask there was a certain engine chassis maker I once knew who would collect all the old Double wound springs he could lay his hands on and I am beginning to think there was method in his madness

Some Girling suspensioon units employed dual rate springs. ... Motor cycle manufacturers employing dual rate springs on the rear suspension at times were BSA, Cotton, Dot, Ducati, Matchless, Jara, Maico Matchless MZ, Norton(Y34 trials), Rickman, Royal Enfield, Suzuki and the odd Yamaha model..... On our old so called classic racing Atlas of the 1980s we junked the std single rate 110 lb springs and fitted 'lighter' 60/90 lb duel rate springs which sorted out the handling to the riders satisfaction.

P.S. As to who made them??? Did Girling make them or did they sub them outto a specialist spring maker and If they did I would lay a few bob it was to a Company within spitting distance or so of Redditch town centre.....
