What TC rides

What's up with the 16 inch wheel? Does he secretly wish he was riding a Harley or something? :P

And is that R2D2 in the background???

I think TC loves the 16" wheel. The combat I got was worked on and modified by TC. It came with a 16" rear wheel. I immediatly swapped it out with a stock 19".

I've had offered up two tales by two fella's that spend a lot on their engines both of which were in chopper frames with 16" period wheel and both described how they dumped clutch in 4th and just held on and never lost till both of them tried it against dirt bikes on THE Gravel which after they got the leap ahead, THE Grit consummed them both. I hear exactly the same tale repeated routinely but with less desirable brands lost to the Marbles and Arrowheads. Personally if I ever find a sports car tire that can fit Peel I will jump all over that no matter the styling flake.

BTW TC rode out ahead of the Chevy Van packing the 3 engine bike, many states on a leg to the next show etc till back home again. He had a wool seat cushion IIRC.

A couple years ago TC and his crew came down from up north and joined us for our fall color ride. I was leading the ride riding my 1954 ES2. When it was time to mount up I was standing next to my bike putting my coat on when TC says, WHOs leading the ride ?? I said me, he said on that thing? :o And I said, try and keep up ,,, :P :P He was on the Commando pictured above. About 30 bikes on the ride that day....Nice Day !

You call yourself a Norton owner and don't know who TC is, shame on you
Wow, guess that now I know who TC is, I am finally, after nearly 39 years of possesing it, I am qualified to call myself a Norton owner........ I am overwhelmed.

Welcome to the Norton learning curve catch up I'm still climbing myself. Another little known TC history is his love/hate relationship with Tom Drouin and his superchargers. TC told me he ran his drag engines to 8000 rpm and lasted 160 runs between preventive openings. TC is a bit piffed he traded fame for fortune.

Steve, you're not alone, I did not know either. Being more a road racing fan than a drag racing fan, I just never paid much attention to that part of the sport.

Hey Tim-S that's no joke about your ES. A couple months ago I road to a show with a friend "Jeb" who has a 1949 ES too. He thought I was going to be on my 441 Shooting Star but I rode the Commando & I said something about him setting the pace so he was ok. We hit the freeway on ramp & all the sudden I couldn't see him so I thought he was way behind but when I looked forward again I saw him about 20 cars ahead of me & I had to work to catch up. He rode very easily at around 70 mph all the way and man it sounded great!
